I have fallen victim to quite a few trends I regret: the eyebrows of 2016-2018 due to dip brow, pure matte makeup, big lashes, etc. For the past week I’ve been trying and investigating the current trends to see if they’re worth it or not.
Lash Extensions
There have been so many videos on my “For You Page” in the past weeks/months for individual lash packs. So, I bought the Flowendia Cashmere Volume Lash Extensions and put them to the test. Application was super easy, and directions were on the back so you don’t have to do your own research. My lash map was 10-12-12-14-14-16. I used these a few times and each time they lasted 3-4 days but could have lasted longer; I just took them off to give my eyes a break. I went swimming with them on, slept with them on, and went to the gym without them budging.
My only issue with these was removal; the glue works a bit too well and getting them off was a hassle. I’m sure with more patience, removal would be safer, but I lost a few lashes in the process of getting them off. Overall, they were worth it to me, and I’ll still use them from time to time.
Korean Skincare
The Anua serum has also been a huge product on my list and in a few days, I’ve seen it clean up some dark spots on my face. It’s a niacinamide serum to help dark spots and acne scars, and let me tell you, it is definitely worth it. I started putting this on before my moisturizer with SPF before bed and it feels like waking up to a new face every day. There’s nothing more to say on this one; 10/10.
Lip Stain
This is one I’ve been wanting to try for a long time. My aim is to be high maintenance at night and right as I wake up so I can be low maintenance throughout the day. Lip stain is definitely a part of that process for girls on the internet, so I thought I’d give it a try. I got the Sacheu Beauty Lip Liner Stay-N and while the product is good, I got the wrong shade for my skin. It looks a bit too orange on me, but I plan to get a different color because it does last throughout the day and looks cute and natural.
Fake Freckles
This trend is one I didn’t have to try because I have natural freckles, but I’ve seen plenty of people do this, especially in the summer. It is so hard to make fake freckles look good/natural, so I had to throw it on this list as a warning. Less is more in this case; if you do like doing fake freckles, please don’t be afraid to blend them in with your skin and do a couple different layers instead of super dark dots all over your face. I don’t think this trend is worth it because everyone’s face is beautiful in its natural state, so just be careful!
Beauty trends come and go, so just try to remember that if they don’t suit you or if they’re too expensive, chances are they’ll be gone as soon as they come in. But also, don’t be afraid to try new trends to see if you like them; there’s no shame in trying!
