Best Study Spots on Temple’s Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Temple University’s campus offers many unique places to hit the books, especially during finals week. Whether you learn best in a hustling and bustling environment, or you need absolute peace and quiet to ensure you can ace your risk final, Temple has your back when it comes to academic hideaways.

1. The Tech Center

Possibly the most popular option, the Tech Center is home to different types of computers and every application imaginable to bang out that final InDesign project, or congregate with your group members to make last minute changes to your final presentation. Be warned: The Tech Center is a jungle, especially at midterms and finals week. Be sure to arrive with plenty of time to secure a seat and computer, and bring snacks! You may be there a while.

2. The Library

While this may seem like an obvious option, many Temple students may be unaware of the hidden treasures within the retro, ever-aging Paley Library.  Your options open up even more if you bring your own laptop. My favorite study spot in the library? The Mezzanine. There’s nothing that inspires academic success more than gazing out over a sea of stressed out college students being productive.

3. Saxby’s

If you are a caffeine addict like myself, or even just enjoy the occasional specialty latte, head over to Saxby’s to go through your notes before the big exam. The calm, chill vibes of a hip coffee shop are sure to calm your nerves before a big test, or at least provide you with a delicious snack beforehand.

4. Tuttleman

The adjacent cousin of the library, Tuttleman Learning Center also provides a great, quiet and secluded place to hit the books. While Tuttleman’s popularity in recent months has certainly risen, you may find more luck finding a seat here than in the Tech Center.

5. Beury Beach

When the weather warms up, the last place you want to spend your day is anywhere inside. Luckily, (wifi permitting) you can get some studying done at Beury Beach, surrounded by sunbathing students and quite possibly the Mr. Softee Truck.
