Australian Store ShowPo Is Making All The Right Moves

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Walking into stores at the mall and having to find the section specifically dedicated to plus size gals, or worse, not being able to find your size at all, can feel quite alienating. As a girl that loves fashion and tries to keep up with trends without being too much of a follower, shopping is easily my favorite hobby. Shopping can sometimes feel defeating, though, when what everyone else is wearing doesn’t come in your size. Something I often find myself dreaming about is a store where all of the clothes have a wide range of sizes and aren’t in separate areas of the store. I think the online store, ShowPo, has answered my prayers.

I discovered this Australian site through my Instagram ads. Is this proof my phone can actually read my mind, possibly, but I don’t think I’m mad about it this time. The ad caught my attention because it had a thin girl and a heavy girl wearing the same exact outfit. It wasn’t a cute outfit on one side and a somewhat matronly look on the other, it was two different girls looking stylish side by side. Once I saw this ad a few more times, I decided to finally check out ShowPo for myself.

I was definitely expecting ShowPo to be similar to the popular Zaful and SheIn, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality and price of these clothes seems closer to that of American Eagle. I found that the sizes range from a 0-16. While there are definitely bigger sizes to cater to that like being fashionable as well, I think that this is a great starting point. Not every single item has the entire range, but I was excited to see dresses, bodysuits, blouses, swimwear, and pants all going up to a size 16. The size guide on ShowPo says that a size 16 is equivalent to a 4XL.

My favorite part of ShowPo is that plus size girls can shop in the same place as straight size. While there is an option to go to only plus, there is something weirdly comforting about knowing I can shop from the main page just like everyone else. Things that aren’t often offered in my size like sexy bodysuits and flirty two-piece sets are right on the front page just begging to be bought. Almost everyone has looked at a really thin girl’s outfit and thought, “I could never pull that off.” ShowPo gives me that message that girls of any size can really wear anything.

Another part of ShowPo that I love is their aesthetically pleasing and funny Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/showpo/ Just like their website, ShowPo’s social media features girls of a variety of sizes. In my opinion, offering plus sizes and actually showing your support are two very different things. I know of many brands that have one token plus size girl that they use to target their brand as “diverse.” I really love and appreciate that ShowPo shows their clothes on girls of different sizes and races both on their shop and on their Instagram.

Even though I am currently a #brokecollegegirlie and can’t really purchase anything, on the inside, I am in major support of ShowPo. They do offer 15% off for students, though, so I might just have to suck it up buy the polka dot dress I’ve been thinking about for the past week.
