I know we’re all focused on the Grammys, but let’s take it back to early January. The Golden Globes are a time when actors, directors, and everyone involved in movies and TV shows spend one night together celebrating astonishing accomplishments in the film industry from the previous year. Although this is an exciting time for film enthusiasts, it’s also a night where the red carpet gets unrolled, and on it stands nominees showcasing incredible looks. Many people watch and can “wow” as they critique, compliment, and reshare the outfits circulating online from the comfort of their homes.
Year after year, all those in attendance raise the bar as they pose in fascinating dresses and chic suits. To say that the 2024 Golden Globes checked off all these boxes would be an understatement. January 7th was a night filled with outfits that exceeded all expectations. Although it was difficult to pick a few favorites, for the sake of time and length of this article, here are, in my opinion, five outfits that deserve a round of applause.
Starting off strong is Natalie Portman who gave us everything and more. Natalie Portman’s dress was breathtaking, something almost resembling a mosaic art piece. In its entirety, this look is a spectacular piece of fashion. The stunning shape and varied colors of this dress contributed to the amazingly unique look. After seeing this look, I found myself wishing I had access to such a magnificent dress. Natalie Portman truly was pure bliss.
The perfection of Emma Stone combined with a gorgeous dress only creates an unforgettable moment. The dress’s color compliments both her and the backdrop of the Golden Globes exceptionally well. Coincidence or not, the dress was a perfect choice. The dazzling and elegant dress covered with floral designs made this look stand apart from the rest. This dress is fitted for a winner, but what else should be expected from a star, the incredibly talented Emma Stone?
It would be a crime if I didn’t include Taylor Swift in the honorable mentions for being exceptionally dressed. She parted the red carpet and left everyone with their jaws on the floor. The sparkly green color and silver jewelry are an unmatched combination. The dress is something of a dream – it sparkles, shimmers, and shines, just like Taylor herself. Her own glow and beauty only add to the awe this outfit exerts.
Ayo Edebiri won both a Golden Globe and bragging rights for an incredible outfit. The seemingly simple dress makes Edebiri shine on the carpet. The elegant red color and strapless style look stunning on the winner. Her dress falls perfectly on her, and I think the train on the back of the dress ties the entire look together. All in all, Ayo Edibiri both entered and left the Golden Globes looking angelic.
Finally, it would be upsetting if Dua Lipa didn’t fall in my own top five. Not only was Dua flawless but her dedication to the look should not be ignored. Dua shared a video via Instagram, showing how difficult it was to sit in the dress, which only increased my appreciation for her stunning outfit. The strapless dress, with its multiple gold designs, was hard not to look at. The dress was distinct from any other and more than deserving of recognition.
I also want to name America Ferrera and Elizabeth Olsen runners-up on my list for their glamorous outfits. Nevertheless, every person who stepped foot on the red carpet left their mark. The fashion was incredible. I like to think that half the fun of award ceremonies like the Golden Globes is the anticipation of seeing the divine looks that appear on the carpet. And although the Golden Globes may be over until next year, the outfits of the attendees still linger in our minds. These extraordinary styles only add to the making of such a magical event.
