A Foodie’s Food Truck Adventure

Catie Lane Student Contributor, Temple University
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Temple University campus is full of food trucks popping up all over the streets, filled with delicious and delectable food from all over the world. In the past semester, there have been a few new additions to the endless cycle of new places to try. Come with me to try two new food trucks, and possibly find your new favorite spot to grub.

Nanu’s Hot Chicken

Our first stop is Nanu’s Hot Chicken, which can be found right outside the Student Center! I decided to try their loaded fries which is a combination of their famous Hot Chicken piled over fries, with cheese sauces and their special sauce coating everything. To top it off, they give crispy pickles which minimize the spice of the chicken. When you go to order your chicken there are four spice levels to choose from, I chose the medium spice level to give my tastebuds a break.

If you have high spice tolerance and love chicken, this truck is for you. All the flavors complement each other well, giving a flavorful burst with every bite.

The Mexican Grill Stand

The next place I decided to check out is Mexican Grill Stand which can be found outside Ritter Hall. The service is incredible, the gentleman running the stand is kind and fun to talk to, giving good conversation as you wait for your food. Here, I decided to try the Chorizo Nachos. These nachos contain meat, sour cream, beans, jalapeños, cheese, and Pico de Gallo all piled on top of freshly fried tortilla chips.

These Nachos were amazing and flavorful, something new with each bite. The spice from the jalapeños helps to balance out the freshness of the Pico and sour cream, all the while they work to cool down the heart from the chorizo. This is a great stop to grab a meal to share with friends. I decided to take my roommate along with me, and it has both of our stamps of approval.

The Patty Wagon

The last place I decided to try was The Patty Wagon which opened at the beginning of the semester causing a storm of students rushing to receive the free platter on their opening day. The smell of the food is enticing, drawing you in from all directions, being right outside the student center, it is both convenient and delicious. Here I decided to try the jerk Chicken tacos.

The Tacos had a delicious savory taste, mixed with the taste of a slightly spicey sauce and onions grazed over them. They are very simple but impactful, they are what I consider to be more traditional tacos. If you’re someone who is not big on super spicy food, but still want a good flavorful taco with a twist, they are definitely the place to go.

There are so many more food trucks to try all over Temple’s campus from breakfast foods, dinner foods, and foods from all over the world and all different cultures. I highly recommend exploring all the food Temple offers and maybe finding a new favorite spot.
