8 Thoughts You Have At a Daylong

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Usually, college Saturdays are spent sleeping until 12 p.m. and trying to recover from the previous night’s shenanigans. But when the temperature finally reaches the optimal 70 degrees, not even your much-needed sleep schedule can excuse you from rallying — it’s daylong season.

Imagine:

You’re out with friends on Friday night (big shocker, I know). Flash forward, you wake up Saturday morning after five hours of sleep with smudged makeup still on (hello, acne). The 27 different tops you tried on the night before are still strewn across your bed, desk, and chair.  And, that headache you woke up with, it’s not getting any better.

Well, chug some good ol’ H2O and put on your high waisted shorts, because you and I both know that you’re marching your depleted and moral-less self to a daylong this Saturday.

Whether you’re a seasoned-daylonger or a complete newbie, you’ll likely have all of these following thoughts before, during, and after the upcoming darty:

1. I have to actually look presentable

It’s easy throw on a black top and skinny jeans for a night out — but the stakes instantly became higher when your outfit/hair/shame can be seen in broad daylight.

2. I should probably keep my sh*t together

Similarly, doing cringey stuff in a dark, crowded basement seems trivial compared to embarrassing yourself while the sun is shining and birds are chirping. No one wants to rehash to happenings of their Saturday MORNING on BarstoolTU’s Instagram.

3. If I don’t get a cute picture, was it even worth going?

The answer is… no! JK. But, like, it wouldn’t be terrible to get an Instagram-worthy candid.

4. It. Is. 2… in the afternoon.

You’re not really sure how to feel. Proud that you put on something other than sweatpants? Ashamed that you’re unwell and it’s not even dinner time? Honestly, this is just confusing.

5. *Shrug*

You realize that you’re allowed to spend your Saturday however you want. As Miley Cyrus once said in the masterpiece, “We Can’t Stop,”

“only God can judge ya, Forget the haters, cause somebody loves yaaaaaa.”

Preach, Miley, preach.

6. It’s loud. And I need a nap. Right now.

In the aftermath of any party, there comes a time when you crash. Except, post daylong, you crash a little earlier (it’s at 5 p.m.)

7. I am never going out again

Like ever again. Never. Ever, ever again.

8. *Three hours later* So are we going out tonight?
