6 DIY Holiday Decorations You’ll Love

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Are you looking to stay festive but trying to save a penny? Or maybe you’re just looking to get into the holiday spirit with your friends or that special somebody?

We’ve got your back. Check out some of the cutest DIY decorations for this holiday season.

1. Wine Cork Wreath

What you’ll need:

Wine Corks

Styrofoam wreath

Hot glue

Any decorations you prefer

Looking for something to do with the endless amounts of corks left from you and your roomies’ healthy wine habits?

Get into the holiday spirit with this perfect craft. Simply glue the corks to the styrofoam wreath in any formation you so please, and decorate with supplies of your choosing. Ribbon, garland, or berries look great!

2. DIY Menorah

What you’ll need:

Branch

Drill or other carving supply

Candlesticks

It might take you some time to find the perfect branch for this one, but when you do, the whole house will love this menorah. Simply drill or carve holes into a sturdy branch and use this little piece of nature to hold your 8 Hanukkah candles.

3. Wine Bottle Characters

What you’ll need: Wine bottles

Paint

Construction paper

Twine

Glues

Any other decorations of your choosing

Another super adorable use for those empty wine bottles. Turn them into any holiday character you love — snowmen, reindeer, Santa, oh my!

4. Carton Snowmen

What you’ll need:

Plastic cartons

String lights

Construction paper

Pipe cleaners

Pom Poms

This adorable carton snowman requires all the craft essentials but gives you free rein to create your own Frosty. Add some string lights to the inside for an extra ~luminescent~ effect.

5. Lightbulb Snowmen

What you’ll need:

Light bulbs

Glitter or white paint

String

2 twigs

Puffy paint (Black and Orange)

Use your dead lightbulbs to create this crafty winter decor. All you’ll need to do is coat the bulb in white paint or glitter (both for an extra beautiful shine) and design your very own puffy paint face! Glue on the twig arms and string to create the perfect DIY ornament or decoration for anywhere around the house!

6. Cubbard Gifts

What you’ll need:

Ribbon

Tape

Bow

Impress your guests with this decoration specifically curated for the more, well, artistically-challenged Christmas lover.

Wrapping some ribbon around your cabinets and slapping a bow on there can take any college kitchen from blah to bam.

So, there you have it! Take on any of these DIY decorations (or all of them!) as an opportunity to get festive while remaining on that tight college budget that we all love oh, so much.
