5 Ways to De-Stress From Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Finals season is upon us and if you are anything like me, you are probably stressed to the max with all the work that is piling up. While hiding in your room for the rest of the school year may sound like the perfect way to get out of everything, here are 5 things you can do to help ease your stress.

1. Escape from Temple for the day and go explore the beautiful city

South Street is holding their annual spring festival this year on May 6. With this being right in the middle of finals, it is the perfect event to attend to get your mind of everything. There will be street vendors, food, entertainment and more. Check it out: http://southstreet.com/spring-fest

2. Grab coffee or a smoothie with a friend

Whether it is someone you have not seen in a while or someone you see everyday, go for a catch up. Avoid talking about your finals, talk about the cute boy in your chemistry class or the new swimsuit you bought for the summer. Talking with a friend and surrounding yourself with positive people will make you instantly feel less stressed and it will get your mind of everything. I recommend Saige Cafe because it has a very chill atmosphere and it is usually not that crowded.

3. Go Shopping!

I am a firm believer in retail therapy. Grab your girlfriends and hit your favorite shops. Whether it is Forever 21 on Chestnut, the temple bookstore, or a local thrift shop, buying clothes it always fun. You do not even have to buy anything, go into stores and just try on cute clothes. Summer is coming up so try on a new bathing suit, floral dress, or some new sandals!

4. Read a book

Instead of reading your boring textbook, take a break and read for fun. I know it may be hard to set aside time, but give yourself 30 minutes everyday to read something different. Go to Barnes and Nobles and browse the books. Find something you love and just read bits of it everyday.

5. Watch a movie

Instead of binge watching a show on netflix, take some time and watch a good comedy with some even better popcorn. Something that will get you laughing and take your mind off finals. I find that watching a movie keeps my mind of things more than a tv show so I always make sure to find time to watch a good movie during finals. While watching, paint your nails to get them all ready for summer.

Just remember that the school year is almost over and soon it will be summer. Study hard but remember to enjoy yourself and not stress too much!
