This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.
This Is Where I Leave You
In theaters now
This movie is in theaters now! It stars Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, Jane Fonda and a number of other recognizable actors portraying a family of grown up siblings being reunited over their father’s funeral. It promises to be hilarious (again, it stars Tina Fey) and to leave you feeling warmed by its rich themes of different family bonds.  Check out the trailer here.

Gone Girl
Comes out October 3, 2014
This October thriller stars Ben Affleck as the primary suspect in his wife’s disappearance on their fifth anniversary, after years of a rocky relationship. It combines drama, thrill, and mystery in uncovering the suspicious circumstances of how, and why, his character’s wife, played by Rosamund Pike, vanishes. Neil Patrick Harris makes a surprising appearance as a concerned member of the community aiding in the search for the missing woman, but the trailers hint that he may play a bigger role in the plot. This flick will definitely make you antsy for Halloween. Check out the trailer here.

The Best of Me
Comes out October 17, 2014
Here comes another romance from the author of “The Notebook”, “A Walk to Remember”, “Dear John” and other books-turned-movies that made you cry on girl’s night. “The Best of Me” is based on the novel of the same name by Nicolas Sparks, so you pretty much know what to expect here. This one is about the teenage love story turned adult love story between Dawson and Amanda. Good news for you: James Marsden stars as the male lead, Dawson. I think we can predict the predominant gender in theaters to see this one.  Check out the trailer here.

Mockingjay: Part 1
Comes out November 21, 2014
Like several other movie installments with such large fan bases, the final book of “The Hunger Games” trilogy will be separated into two parts. Part 1 comes out this November. The last film, “Catching Fire,” left us off with Katniss discovering that Peeta was captured and taken to the Capital, that District 12 had been demolished and that she had become the symbol of the mockingjay, for the revolution that erupted by the end of the last “Catching Fire.” Be prepared for a less energy fueled plot for the first of these two parts, but enough suspense and surprises to make it an intense part 1 for the final movie. Jennifer Lawrence is bound to give another impressive performance. Check out the trailer here.

The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies
Comes out Dec. 17, 2014
This is the third and final film for “The Hobbit” film series. So, if you’ve binge watched all the “Lord of The Rings” movies and the two already-out “The Hobbit” movies, this will be the next on your list. In this movie you will see the disastrous battle that unfolds between Goblins, Dwarves and Men after the killing of the dragon Smaug. Prepare yourself for the most exciting and action packed instillation of the trilogy. Check out the trailer here.
