It’s officially fall here on campus. I chatted with three of Temple University’s own and added my own input to break down the hottest trends you’ll be seeing this fall season and where to shop for them.

Micro Mini Skirts

Kayla Savage, freshman here at Temple will be hopping on the micro mini skirt trend. This Y2K trend reappeared on the spring 2022 runways and has been here to stay. From black silk to pleated plaid, there are tons of different styles, patterns, and colors to choose from when it comes to the micro mini skirt. You can easily dress it up with a turtleneck, oversized blazer, and booties or you can dress it down with Kayla’s favorite combination of a chunky grandpa sweater, tights, and  Dr. Marten 1461 Smooth Leather Oxfords.

Where to Shop:

H&M offers seven different colored and patterned low waisted, stretch jersey miniskirts for only $12.99. Uniqlo also has an affordable classic Wool Blend Mini Skirt. These two stores only carry sizes XXS-XL in these products, but for more size inclusive options, ASOS has a variety of plaid, leather, and denim miniskirts offered in sizes 0-24.

Flannel Shirts

Gianna Voges, also a freshman here at Temple will be channeling the flannel this fall season. Plaid flannels are a staple in any fall fashion lookbook. They are so versatile when it comes to styling them. Gianna prefers to keep it simple and comfy, pairing flannels with high waisted jeans, a layered turtleneck, sweater combo and black converse, but you can definitely dress it up by tucking it into a pair of colored trousers and platform boots.

Where to Shop:

Cotton On has a great selection of Boyfriend Flannel Shirts for only $34.99. These oversized, classic button-down shirts range from sizes XS-4XL and are sold in a variety of colors from soft brown check to mika check washed teal.

Dr. Martens

Coming all the way from Miami, Florida, Victoria Gonzales, is super excited to be wearing Dr. Martens this fall season. This 90s staple footwear have evolved into a variety of different styles from combat boots to platform loafers, they are the perfect shoe to go with any fall outfit. Victoria’s favorite are the classic 1460 Smooth Leather Lace Up Boots. Now available in six different colors and sizes ranging from US 5 to US 12, you can wear them with jeans, printed pants, and short skirts.

Where to Shop:

Dr. Martens

You can also find cheaper preowned Dr. Martens on Depop, Mercari, and Poshmark.

Wide-Leg Pants

I know I will be embracing the wide leg pants this fall. From chic suits with wide-leg trousers to retro wide leg denim, this style of pants is a fall fashion must have. I prefer a more high-waisted tailored fit, but there are plenty of low-rise relaxed styles. These pants are perfect for wearing with oversized sweaters, layered with a turtleneck and sweater vest, or even a fitted t-shirt and oversized leather jacket. The wide-leg also allows for endless shoe choices, but my personal favorites are neutral platform converse and Jadon Smooth Leather Platform Dr. Martens.

Where to Shop

My absolute favorite wide leg pants are from H&M. For only $17.99, these 5-pocket, high waist, zip fly with button, wide leg pants come in sizes 0-20 (XS-4XL). The colors they offer change, but my favorites are dark brown and beige. American Eagle Baggy & Wide Leg Jeans also has a lot of options from classic blue denim high rise to brown corduroy low rise. They offer sizes from 000 to 20 in short, regular, and long.

Other Fall Fashion Favorites:

Long Sleeves & Turtlenecks

These are essential when it comes to layering. One of my go-to places to shop for these basics is Old Navy. They have a variety of different styles to choose from, but two of my favorites are the Rib-Knit Turtleneck Top and the Plush Long-Sleeve Rib-Knit Slim-Fit T-Shirt. They’re available in fourteen different colors and nine different sizes ranging from XS to 4XL including regular, tall, and petite sizing.

Chunky Sweaters

We all have to stay warm somehow! Plain colored chunky sweaters are great to throw on under a jacket or flannel paired with a pair of jeans or colored pants. American Eagle and Aerie offer numerous collections of comfortable, yet stylish sweaters in eight colors ranging from sizes XXS to XXL. Two styles that I prefer are the Oversized Waffle Knit Sweater and the Buttercream Crew Sweater

Sometimes a flannel isn’t enough when those chilly fall nights roll around. Utility jackets, leather jackets, and puff vests are three of the most popular fall outerwear pieces. Target has a trendy Utility Jacket, offered in four different colors and sizes ranging from XS to 4XL. Gap has the perfect, classic Faux-Leather Utility Shirt Jacket in sizes XXS to XXL. Gap also has a great basic Big Puff Vest, available in three colors, black, beige, and brown, and sizes XXS to XXL. These are all great options to pair with a simple long sleeve or a chunky sweater, and virtually any pants you want.

Fall fashion should be fun for all, whether you’re looking to dress up or down, this 2022 Fall Campus Fashion Guide should’ve definitely given you inspiration for your next outfits!
