Halloween is coming up in less than a month, which means one thing only: SPOOKY TIME. From carving jack o’lanterns to eating candy corn, there’s nothing more thrilling than getting into the Halloween spirit. However, nothing beats relaxing with a cup of warm cider and popcorn, and binge watching some classic Halloween movies. Here are just a few to get you started on your all-day and all-night marathon.

Hocus Pocus

A timeless classic. The most popular Halloween movie — almost every single person should know this one. The movie surrounds a teen boy who moves to Salem, Massachusetts and accidentally awakens a trio of witches who died in the 17th century. Hilarious AND spooky, this movie is great for family and friends.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

A Christmas and Halloween crossover, this movie is one of Tim Burton’s finest. Visually impressive, this movie follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown and on his journey to steal Christmas.

Halloweentown

A nostalgic movie for teens and millennials today, “Halloweentown” remains a holiday favorite. This Disney movie tells the story of Marnie Piper who learns that she descends from a line of witches. After her grandmother returns, Marnie discovers Halloweentown, which is in danger.

Casper

Chances are you’ve probably heard of Casper the Friendly Ghost. This ridiculously adorable movie will have you smiling until your cheeks hurt. Ghost hunter James Harvey and his daughter, Kat, move into a house that’s teeming with nasty spirits that wreak havoc every day. Casper is determined to become friends with the new visitors, especially Kat.

Monster House

Not your typical haunted house movie. In this animated thriller, a neighborhood is haunted by a house that seems to have a mind of its own.

Halloween

You can’t have Halloween movies without THE original classic. Perfect for anyone who loves horror flicks. Prepare to be screaming your socks off as you follow Michael Myers as he escapes from a psychiatric facility to terrorize his hometown.

Beetlejuice

Honestly one of the funniest Halloween movies there is. A deceased couple is stuck haunting their former residence, and when a new family moves in, they call in help from a “bio-exorcist” named Beetlejuice to help scare them off.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

This wholesome movie is perfect for anyone who loves oldies.

The Addams Family

Another extremely popular pick, this movie is a must-see. This creepy comedy follows the Addams family, a weird family who reconnects with their thought to be long-lost relative, who is actually a con-artist trying to swindle the family out of their money.

Coraline

Despite the cartoon appearance, this movie is among one of the most terrifying Halloween movies to date. The movie follows a young girl who discovers an alternate world where she discovers an ideal life for herself, unaware that it holds sinister secrets.

Corpse Bride

Another Tim Burton film, this movie tells the tale of a man who accidentally marries a corpse while he is destined to be married to another (living) woman.

The Haunted Mansion

Based off of the Disney attraction, this movie stars Eddie Murphy as he and his family take on the ghosts haunting the mansion that they are vacationing in.

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble

This children’s film stars the Olsen twins who discover their Great Aunt Sophia has been trapped and cursed by their evil twin sister, Agatha. Using the power of twin magic, these girls must break the curse to free Sophia.

Hotel Transylvania

A boy falls in love with the daughter of Dracula, what could go wrong? Oh yeah, he’s HUMAN. Starring Adam Sandler as Dracula, this hilarious animated comedy is perfect for the family.

Twitches

A classic teen drama, this Disney Channel original movie stars two teen witches separated at birth and adopted by different families. On their 21st birthday, they finally meet and realize that they must use their powers to save the world where they were born.
