How could anyone possibly choose a favorite place to eat in the Reading Terminal Market? I know I can’t — so I narrowed it down to the top 10, which was still extremely difficult. Keep this in mind as you’re reading: calories don’t count on the weekend!

1. Beiler’s Doughnuts

We’re starting with dessert first because it’s an absolute necessity when at Reading Terminal. With over 30 years of hand-rolling doughnuts, they couldn’t possibly be anything less than amazing. Beiler’s Doughnuts should be your first stop inside.

2. DiNic’s

Where else would you find a Man vs. Food Best Sandwich of the Year? None other than DiNic’s! Their roast pork, which they’ve been whipping up for a HUNDRED years, is to die for, just ask the Travel Channel.

3. Hunger Burger

Hunger Burger is new in town, but that doesn’t mean they won’t impress. Their menu is proof of their delicious options, such as lobster, mac n’ cheese and sweet potato fries. Don’t worry, you can bring your vegetarian and health-conscious friends, because they have veggie, turkey and chicken alternatives to beef. Not only does this food taste good, but it feels good too. As if you need another reason to go, portions of their proceeds go to help child hunger.

4. Old City Coffee

No meal is complete without a fresh cup of joe. Check out Old City Coffee for micro-roasted beans! This classic coffee shop has been in the business for over 30 years, and it’s here to stay.

5. Bassett’s Ice Cream

A trip to the Market is not complete without a stop at Bassett’s Ice Cream. Not only was it the first merchant ever in the market, but it’s also the oldest ice cream company in America. You can skip school for this one and write it off as an educational field trip!

6. Hershel’s East Side Deli

Hershel’s East Side Deli doesn’t mess around, they have some serious Jewish classics like matzo ball soup and latkes. They’re also serving up local favorites like Reubens and pastrami. Everything is made from scratch by hand, so I just might have to try one of everything!

7. Lancaster County Dairy

You can’t visit Reading Terminal Market without bringing something home for the fam. Lucky for you, Lancaster County Dairy has got you covered. Take some of their Pennsylvania-local dairy products home to share and sneak a famous hand-squeezed lemonade for yourself!

8. Down Home Diner

Down Home Diner is exactly what it sounds like: home-cooked comfort food. Everything is fresh and local, it’s sure to fill your belly right up!

9. Dutch Eating Place

Dutch Eating Place has everything you could possibly imagine & more. They’re serving up fresh breakfast, lunch and dinner — all complete with desserts! This stop is sure to remind you of home.

10. Keven Parker’s Soul Food Café

Last, but certainly not least, comes a crowd pleaser. Keven Parker’s Soul Food Café has the flavor to back up their award-winning food. If you’re looking to indulge, you’ve come to the right place.

After donuts, sweet potato fries, iced coffee and more, all of your food cravings will be satisfied. Which is something that probably won’t happen after indulging at, uh, Morgan Dining Hall. So, next time you’re in the city, make sure to hit up one, or all, of these delicious shops at the Reading Terminal Market.
