Zeta Tau Alpha President: Tiffany Wong

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCU chapter.

As the recently elected President of TCU’s Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, sophomore year is anything but a slump for TCU student Tiffany Wong.

Name:  Tiffany Wong

Year:  Sophomore, Class of 2018

Hometown:  Austin, TX

Major: Accounting

Q: When did you decide you wanted to be the President of Zeta Tau Alpha?

A: “Being President of a sorority was always an artificial thing that I wanted when I was little, and after serving on Exec my freshman year I learned what it takes to be a leader and serve your chapter.  I was really passionate about Zeta and making positive changes for our sorority and felt ready to be President.”

Q:  How has being an underclassmen affected your role as president?  Would you say it holds you back?

A: “It definitely doesn’t hold me back.  I think being in the younger pledge class has driven my passion for the sorority, especially since I only got my bid two years ago.  But it’s definitely nerve racking, I was nervous I wouldn’t receive the respect from the older girls, but it has gone really well.”

Q:  Since you already hold the highest leadership position in Zeta, how do you see your role in the sorority evolving in the next 2 years?

A: “It’s really good being President at this age because I’ve set goals for the year, but now I can be on Exec again and continue following through with my goals and maximizing on our success.  Often times President’s will set all these new changes in place, but after they graduate all those changes kind of get wiped away.  I hope to see out all the plans I’ve made and make sure they grow and continue to be set into place so that Zeta Tau Alpha can continue to make strides as a sorority.”

Q: What’s your biggest challenge of being President?

A: “The biggest challenge is breaking the norm.  The President of a sorority is typically a junior or senior, so like I said, I was nervous about earning all the older girls respect. I was also worried about all the work I would be taking on.”

Q: What about your favorite part?

A: “Being able to have a say in everything.  I also love getting to learn more about Zeta…I get to go to conferences and learn what makes it a successful sorority nation wide.  I’ve become more involved in Zeta Tau Alpha on a national level, as well as on our own TCU campus.”

Q:  Where do you see yourself post-graduation?

A: “I plan on attending grad school at TCU and receiving my CPA (Certified Public Accountant), so I’ll be here.  I hope to be a very active, generous ZTA and TCU alum, and one day go back to my home town in Austin and work for an accounting firm there.”

Q:  What is your best memory from Zeta?

A: “Getting my two Littles this year– Nikki Foley and Charlsey Smith.  We’ve taken road trips together and literally become best friends…they’ve taught me what sisterhood is.  There is nothing more I love than my two Littles!”
