I have lived in the Coachella Valley for the past seven years and attended the last two Coachella festivals. From experience, I’ve learned what you really need and don’t need, so here’s a list for any first-timers!

  1. Fanny pack

This is an absolute must-have! A plain black or white one will go with your outfits and be convenient for you to grab anything you need easily. It is also a safe space for your phone, cards, and money. Everyone there will have one, so you won’t feel out of place!

2. Sunscreen

Remember, you will be in the Californian desert. It will get extremely hot, trust me. The sun will be beating down on you for hours and I really don’t think you want to ruin your cute outfits with a bright red burn. What I do is pack one or two travel-size sunscreens in my fanny pack so I can reapply at any time.

3. Power block & phone charger cord

Your phone will die really fast from taking pictures and videos, looking up the lineup schedules, and trying to call or text your friends. I highly suggest you charge your power block all the way before each day of the festival so you don’t get lost with a dead phone!

4. Mask or bandana

No, this isn’t because of covid (but it can be used for that too). This is for the dust that you might breathe in through your nose and mouth while you’re there. You can match it with your outfit and make it look cool too! There is a ton of sand and dust that gets blown in the air and you don’t want that in your lungs.

5. Sunglasses

As always, you need some cool sunglasses at Coachella. This will also protect your eyes from the sand and dust. I always match them with my outfit for a cute added accessory too!

If you’re going to the fest, take lots of pictures, have fun, and stay safe!
