The Ways I love You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCU chapter.

I don’t think I know what love is.

Is it the way my eyes light up when I see you?

With that smile that brightens a room,

Is it the way my heart speeds up when we touch?

With a touch that awakens my soul,

Is it the twinkle in your eyes?

When the sun hits them just right,

Or is it that sly smile that crosses my face whenever we talk?

I don’t think I know what love is.

Maybe it’s the way my fingers fit perfectly between yours.

Maybe it’s the electricity that shocks me when we kiss.

Maybe it’s your laughter echoing through my heart,

Or the way you let me talk for hours.

I don’t think I know what love is.

Is it the way you talk to me?

With a language of our own,

Is it the way you chose me over others?

All the other girls are prettier than me.

Is it the way we share secrets?

Our deepest thoughts,

Or is it the comfort of your arms?

I don’t think I know what love is.

Maybe it’s the shivers that appear at your touch.

Maybe it’s the way you look at me from across the room.

Maybe it’s the way you tickle me nonstop,

Or is it the way I think of you for hours.

I think I know what love is.

It’s the way you hold me,

Your arms feel like home.

It’s the way you kiss my forehead,

Ever so lightly.

It’s the way we can just sit without words,

Quiet but loud with the beating of our hearts.

It’s the way I still get nervous to see you,

My heart’s unending excitement.

Love is the butterflies in the pit of my stomach.

Love is the way we just watch the stars,

Love is the way the world disappears when I’m with you,

Love is the way God has graced me with you.

Love is the endless heartache I’ll feel,

Love is the undying emotions,

Love is not judging.

Love is dedication,

You see an imperfect person as perfect,

That is love.

That is the way I love you!
