If you’re clicking on this article, you’re probably thinking, “How in the world can finals be stress-free?!” Although I can’t make your finals completely stress-free, I can help make your finals week be a little bit more fun. After five semesters of finals, I have learned how to manage my time and various ways to get school off my mind, even if it’s just for an hour or two. Here are five ways to take a break and release tension from finals:

1. Fort Worth Bike Sharing

You’ve probably noticed the red bikes stationed around Fort Worth and maybe you have always wanted to try riding them, but have never gotten around to it. Well, now is the time to give it a go! I recommend gathering a couple of friends and riding bikes through the park. You will be soaking up some sun, breaking a sweat, and having a great time with your friends. You will forget about your stress in no time.

2. Steel City Pops

Everyone loves dessert and it makes us happy! Therefore, getting a tasty treat is a good study break and makes for a great time as well. Steel City Pops is a modern popsicle business that offers many delicious flavors made with fresh ingredients. Popsicles are so nostalgic and are refreshing to eat during the hot Texas summer.

3. Tanning

One thing most TCU students take advantage of during the warmer weather is the pool at the Rec. When finals roll around, a great study break (or a place to study) can be found by relaxing on a pool chair and soaking up some Vitamin D.

4. Stock Up on Healthy Snacks

Did you know that bananas improve memory development and relieve stress? No? Well, now you do! Take one last trip to Kroger and pick up some fruit, veggies, and healthy snacks and chips to enjoy a healthy treat for your next study break.

5. Work Out!

Even if it is just for 20 minutes, get up, stretch your legs, and get your heart pumping! You have probably heard a time or two that exercising releases endorphins, which make you happy and also relieve stress. If you have more than 20 minutes, I would suggest running at Trinity Park or around TCU. Also, group classes are a lot of fun and can be a great way to burn calories with friends.

Fort Worth has an endless amount of activities to participate in that will take your mind off of finals. Don’t be afraid to take a study break! Taking one will help you recall more information later and you will feel refreshed and focused when it is time to hit the books again.
