You know that one pair of black leggings every girl owns that gets washed religiously because she wears them like a second skin? Oh good, you do! Trust me when I say that I know how tempting it can be to just pull on the black leggings and a hoodie for the day, especially as the warm temperatures start to head south for the winter (Texas is supposed to be warm?!). However, I am here to encourage you to dress up those leggings and mix in some fashionable variety with the typical leggings, North Face jacket, and UGG boots. You may say “Okay yeah, but it’s not as easy as it sounds to create those Pinterest outfits that I spend hours drooling over and end up pinning onto my ‘Dream Closet’ board
” Well, I am telling you that it can be done, and to prove it to you I attempted to create Pinterest-worthy outfits out of my own basic-white-girl closet. Let the madness begin!

1. A Plaid Flannel

Flannel is the BeyoncĂ© of winter clothing (in case you didn’t already know that by now) for its warmth and its tendency to make you look like an adorable lumberjack! Layer it up with any tee and an army jacket for the ultimate fall look.

2. A Skirt

This is the girlier look and simply putting on a skirt makes any outfit look 100x fancier. Pick one with a funky print for an instant eye-catcher and pair it with a sweater and Hunter boots for a cozy yet put-together look!

3. A Scarf

This is probably the easiest way to still wear a T-shirt and leggings and look even cuter than you all already are. An infinity scarf never gets old because of how many ways they can be worn. Pair it with a long sweater and a colorful tee (or a cute crop top, if you don’t mind showing a little skin when it’s chilly) to stay Pinterest-worthy cute all fall/winter long!

4. A Vest

Vests are so versatile and can be dressed up or down which is beyond perfect since leggings have the same characteristic. I got mine at JCPenney for $20, and it is one of the best purchases I’ve made for my winter closet! Put a vest on over a long-sleeve tee for a less dressy look or over a button-up for a preppy, winter-chic vibe. Oh and cute rain-boots never hurt anybody!

5. A Denim Jacket

AKA, the classic comeback kid. Denim jackets have not, and I predict never will, go out of style. Layer one over a graphic tee with those white converse for a casual but fashionable look as the weather cools.

Bonus: Sometimes it pays to ditch those boring black leggings and beeline for some printed leggings instead. I found these at Kohl’s last winter for just $14 (it’s practically a steal!) and they are thick, sweater-material which was my savior during the frigid Colorado winter. I might have to wait a little longer to wear them here in Texas this winter, but they will be making a comeback! Pair them with a plain top or sweater and riding boots for a positively adorable winter look.

See, guys?! It can be done, and I 100% guarantee you’ll receive a compliment or two on your adorable, yet extremely comfy winter outfits!

Now you won’t be able to pull a “Phoebe” the next time you open your closet!
