A new year means a new beginning, and it’s the perfect opportunity to grow or reinvent yourself if you wish. This year comes with new and exciting trends innovating the fashion world. The trends help to shape and discover your taste and style, and many of them cease to be trendy when they become basics for any wardrobe. Skinny Jeans are back?
The trend of denim on denim might be related to this trend. Denim makes up most of our wardrobe, from skirts to shirts or jackets, since its pieces are essential in our closets. But the pants-less trend is definitely leading to the comeback of skinny jeans. The “thighs out” trend suggests we don’t need pants to create our outfits. From Kendall Jenner to Kylie Jenner, the trend has made its appearance since the end of last year. The Spring 2023 ready-to-wear runways, such as Victoria Beckham or Bottega Veneta, are releasing pants-less designs. The choice to highlight stylized legs and adjust areas with leggings has been seen with Versace. The same pattern has also been seen from other designers in collections like Diesel’s Pre-Fall 2023 line.
TikTok is debating if this is really happening or if it’s just a scare. Gen Z said no to skinny jeans, and I totally get it, but if fashion has shown us something, it’s that trends always come back.
Cargo
Along with the Y2K and the jeans-at-the-hips trends, we will see pockets everywhere. They invade jackets, skirts, or vests. But leaving behind the mom jeans, the cargo pants will be at the center of the stage this 2023. Marking the waist and adding more volume to the legs and hips, you will love these pants.

Appealing to a more feminine and sexy side, sheer fabrics have been making their appearance on all the runway shows. Since winter 2022, showing more skin has become a strong trend. I can’t even think of which designer to mention because it literally is everywhere. Summer will be fantastic to put into practice and take more risks with our outfits.

The sneakers of the moment are the New Balance ones. We have seen them on the streets with celebrities like Hailey Bieber, and we know that anything she wears becomes trendy. Another good option is the Adidas Samba which seems to be making a mark on footwear.
As a college student, I love how comfy and pretty a good pair of sneakers can look, but we need to move on from them as our only option. There is plenty of variety and collections of shoes to stylize our outfits. A good choice is the Mary Jeans; they are a classic and versatile piece for casual or even elegant outfits. We have seen its appearance on stage with different designers, and its various designs can belong to anyone’s style. A trend open to continue are Ballet Flats, thanks to the rise of Balletcore and the trend of dress-like dancers.
The comeback of Y2K fashion is unavoidable, and while some people love it, others are worried about the controversies and insecurities the style means. Now, its recognizable shoes are trending again. The Ugg boots were a massive hit in the 2000s, and as we enter 2023, these shoes have been everywhere. It’s something you have or love. Personally, I was never a real fan of the trend, but I can understand its popularity. They are really comfy and keep you warm, perfect for the snowstorm we just had.
