For those of you anxiously awaiting your summer fling to come together, prepare yourself for adventurous dates and romantic excursions. Hanging out with your crush over the summer? Don’t sweat it. Here is a list of activities the two of you can do together. Whether you’re planning on kicking off your shoes and relaxin’ or strapping on your helmet and ridin’ down the coast, this list will provide you with enough reasons to call up your crush and get your flirt on.

1. Go to a Concert:

Ideally, your favorite band would be in town and you and your date can listen to their beautiful music and live the perfect summer romance. I hate to burst your bubble, but you might have to try a little harder or venture a little further out with ideas. Music festivals could make quite an interesting weekend and a memorable road trip. If you’re not quite ready for that type of adventure, sometimes local bands play around town for free too.

2. Go see a Movie:

Cliché or not, movies always hold the potential for snuggling and hand holding. If your crush is up for anything, take him to a drive in movie (Coyote Drive-In is in Fort Worth *wink wink*). If your crush is mature, let him take you to a nice theater with reclining seats, iced beverages, and chocolate everything. If you and your crush like to keep it simple, try an at-home movie marathon. Bring on the popcorn!

3. Go to the County Fair:

Daydreaming about your crush holding your hand on a scary ride and then kissing you in the photo booth after? Now is your chance! Lace up your Converse, throw on some sunscreen, and scrape up a couple dollars. Grab your boy and let the games begin.

4. Go on a Bike Ride:

If you live in an especially beautiful place, a bike ride to a pretty view is always romantic. It proves you can be outdoorsy and adventurous, but shows off your luscious hair blowing in the wind. Remember to wear nice perfume, so he has a sweet trail to follow.

5. Go Bowling:

Check out your local bowling alleys for major deals or events. I’ve found a few places that have “Two-dollar Tuesdays.” A cheap date and a great time to show off your skills. Not a bad place to scope your boy’s sexy muscles either. Strike!

6. Go on a Crazy Hike:

If you’re down to get dirty, take your boy on an adventure of a life time. Don’t be afraid to get a little lost, as long as you’re back on track by sunset. This date works with boys who love to explore. Love dogs? Invite the pups along too.

7. Go Cliff Jumping:

If you’re a little shy with one-on-one dates, this is a perfect opportunity to grab the gang and head off to the cliffs. Pack a picnic and your favorite people and don’t forget to bring towels! This sport is especially risky so please be careful and stay out of trouble.

8. Go Stargazing:

One very romantic date idea is to lay in the back of a truck, in the middle of nowhere, and just count the stars. If you are really down to get to know your beau better, this is a private spot to talk about life and escape the world for a little bit.

9. Go Jacuzzi Hopping:

If you and your boy are up for being dare devilish, jacuzzi hopping requires an apt taste for private properties and running from trouble. This activity is usually suited for two people, if you actually want to get away with it. But, as with most things, the more the merrier!

10. Go to the Beach/Bay/Lake:

If you’re into having fun in the summer sun, there is nothing bad about kicking back and relaxin’. You can play volleyball with your boy, or just watch him from afar. You can take out the tubes and float or kick it up a notch and tie them to a boat. Learn how to sail together. Rent a BBQ Donut or a pontoon. Bring in the big boys… er, I meant boards and SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard). Pack all your necessities for the day and turn off your phone and enjoy your time together. Plus, if all your friends are there too, there is no need for your phone anyway. Alright, one Instagram, but that’s your only freebee.

11. Go Explore the City:

This date should show off your adventurous and carefree nature. Go into the date with no plan. Just go with the flow. Maybe you’ll find a cool hole-in-the-wall restaurant. You might find a cool bar or store. The point is that you’re with someone who makes you happy and you’re working together to find a cool new place to share.

12. Go to a Baseball Game:

Put on that Ranger Red or Dodger Blue and march into that stadium loud and proud. Show your boy that you have a sporty and wild side. Just make sure you know the rules of the game before diving in head first in front of your crush. It’s pretty simple to follow and any boy would love to have your company while sitting back and watching the game. Maybe fill your hands with a hot dog, cotton candy, or some beer to keep you entertained if you’re not interested in the game. Put a bet on the game winning team to keep things interesting.

13. Go to a Bartending Class:

Groupon had some great deals on receiving a bartender’s license. The good news is you don’t have to be 21 to get the license to make a drink. Bad news is that you do have to be 21 to get the license to drink it. As long as you’re eighteen and up, the two of you can become certified cocktail creators. It’s a fun and stress free way to get to know each other better and maybe even share a few drinks.

14. Go Golfing:

If you’re a stud and can keep up with a man’s game of golf, I encourage you to show off your skills. If you are, however, challenged in that department, then check out a few of these ideas. First, if you are really un-athletic, take the boy to putt-putt. Second, if you’re confident you can at least swing the club without throwing it 100 yards in front of you, try Top Golf. Last, if you’re more of an evening date kind of gal, and you are brave enough to show off your swing, try night time golf at a lit up golf course. It is legal at some places, so check around to see if any local courses offer that dark sky luxury.

My name is Tara McQueen. I am a junior at TCU. I enjoy long walks on the beach during the sunset. Watching the sunset from the top of TCU's stadium comes in second, close to California beach sunsets. I love writing and reading gossip columns. One day I hope to write for a nationally recognized fashion magazine. Until then, I plan on blogging and writing as much as I can in my free time.
