As summer comes to a close, we are approaching the season of pumpkin-flavored coffee, Halloween movies, and crisp weather. The temperature is beginning to change, meaning new trends are emerging as we try to transition our cute summer pieces into appropriate clothing autumn. These six trends are currently on the rise for fall fashion.

Patchwork Denim

Patchwork denim is essentially different shades of denim stitched together, giving the article a more unique look than a regular pair of jeans. This trend can also be seen in the form of a denim jacket, sometimes the two paired together. It can be styled with any color and has the versatility to be dressed up or down with tees, cropped tank tops, sneakers, or heeled boots. This trend is an easy way to spice up a normal look without stepping too far out of your comfort zone.

Cow and Zebra Print

Cow and zebra print are rising in popularity in the form of pants, hats, jackets, handbags, and even nail designs at nearly the same level as cheetah print. These black and white prints are easy to style with any pop of color or to add individuality to an otherwise basic outfit. You can wear these prints as a statement piece or incorporate it into your fashion in subtle ways with accessories and other personal customizations.

Sweater Vests

This trend is especially good for fall as the weather slowly moves from extreme heat to crisp air, giving the styling option to layer or wear it on its own. One could style a sweater vest with a button down or turtle neck underneath, over a plain T-shirt, or by itself. This gives a stylish, professional look and typically comes in plaid, argyle print, or a variety of solid colors.

Trousers

Trousers are a classic staple in a closet with their ability to be dressed up and down. They are comfortable and effortless while still looking classy and put together. They can be dressed up with heels and a blazer for special occasions or made casual with a simple tee and cute sneakers. Trousers can be high waisted, wide-legged, cropped, or form-fitting, catering to a multitude of body types and fits.

Button Downs and Crewnecks

The idea of layering a crewneck sweatshirt on top of a button down shirt is an old idea making a comeback this year in street style. It is practical and fashionable as it keeps you warm without making you look frumpy or sloppy. This style is typically worn with a tennis skirt (another trend from this year) to give a more preppy look or simply with a pair of jeans to keep it casual.

Monochromatic

A monochromatic outfit means wearing an outfit consisting of shades of the same color. This is becoming extremely popular as many people step out of their comfort zone with bright colors and interesting prints. This trend can be executed in many different ways including matching sweat sets, trousers and blazers, and lots of layering. Monochromatic outfits are a bold choice that will always be eye-catching and interesting.
