The sun setting earlier and earlier each night and there’s more than just a chill in the air from the weather.  Halloween may be over, but who doesn’t love a scary movie? It’s a great way to bond with friends, get scared, and maybe even a great excuse to get a little closer to that guy you have been crushing on all semester! I’ve narrowed down the five best scary movies guaranteed to give you the chills (and a reason to share a blanket with your crush)!

Halloween

I’m sure you all have seen this movie but there’s no scary movie night without this classic film. I asked many students at TCNJ what their favorite scary Halloween movie was and this seemed to be the absolute favorite. Who could ever forget Michael Myers? Just the thought of him gives me chills.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Of course I must keep bringing out the oldies, but this movie is always a must see during this holiday season. Hold on to your seats as several teenagers are stalked and killed in their dreams by the infamous Freddy Krueger.

Jeepers Creepers

“Jeepers, Creepers…where’d you get those peepers…jeepers, creepers…where’d you get those eyes”.Such a catchy song, right? In this movie, people are murdered by a creature known as “the creeper”. Whenever the song plays, a new victim is faced with “the creeper”

The Amityville Horror

Do you enjoy haunted houses and ghost stories? If yes, this movie is perfect for you! A family moves into a new house where a family had been killed just a few months before. Strange things begin to occur to the family while living in this house.

The sixth sense

This movie is about a boy that sees dead people. Frightening? Yes, which makes this a must see!

Hilarey works for TCNJ's Residential Education and Housing Department as a Community Advisor, but is truly aspiring to be the next Carrie Bradshaw. Not only does Hilarey love writing for her campus's chapter of Her Campus, but she enjoys writing about sports for local newspapers, as well. A true Jersey girl at heart, Hilarey is definitely not from the Boston area, but is a huge fan of the New England Patriots. You can find her interning in New York City this Fall at Woman's Day Magazine.
