The Top 5 Trends to Try this Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

Spring is finally here, Collegiettes!  And warm weather means new fashion.  This year’s Fashion Week: Spring 2013 gave us tons of adorable new trends to try.  This spring, check some new items off of your fashion bucket list.  Ditch those leggings and those oversized sweaters for these cute new digs!

  1. Black and White Stripes – This trend is really versatile.  A black and white striped blouse can be paired with black jeans for a job interview or white jeans for a dinner out with your man.  Thicker stripes make your body appear wider.  Stripes that meet at a point in the middle of your torso create a line that lengthens the look of your body.
  1. Lace – Lace in neutral colors like camel and off-white are soft and feminine.  Try pairing lace tops with masculine pieces like boyfriend blazers or distressed boyfriend jeans rolled up just above the ankles.
  1. Peekaboo Cutouts – Dresses that have cutouts on the sides of the waist or on the back are a great way to show off that toned body you’ve been working on all winter long.  It’s a sexy way to show some skin.
  1. Ornate Beading – This is a trend that looks great on every body type.  Indian and Moroccan influences play up this exotic look.  Think bright beaded tanks, shorts, and t-strap sandals.
  1. Leather – Don’t be intimidated, leather can be totally sexy if done right.  Think leather pencil skirt paired with a chiffon blouse or a leather jacket over a flowy cotton tank and jeans.
