Sound the horns and roll out the red carpet, collegiettes™, because you are in for a royal treat! This week’s Campus Cutie Tim Manzi was crowned TCNJ’s Homecoming King this past Saturday. Tim is a Bio major who just applied to Vet School, but this crowned cutie still finds time to goof off with friends in Alumni Grove or the Lib Caf. Her Campus TCNJ would like to extend a congratulations to Tim for stealing the hearts of TCNJ voters this Homecoming and becoming King of our campus!
Name: Tim Manzi
Nick name: Some of my very close friends call me “Timmy”
Year: 2012
Age: 21
Major: Biology (Pre-Vet)
Minor: Spanish and Psychology
Hometown: Freehold, NJ
Why did you choose to run for homecoming king? I felt like I knew a lot of people and that I’m a good representative of TCNJ! I love the campus, the people and the school. Being nominated among such a strong pool of potential Kings was a great experience, and I was thankful just to be able to walk onto the football field.
What was it like winning? SUCH a relief! It was really all I could think about the past couple weeks. I was happy to be nominated with so many other Ambassadors, and was ecstatic that my four year old sister could escort me onto the field. My mom and other sister, Jane, were able to watch us walk onto the field, which made it all such a cool experience. My best friend Katie Tedesco was Queen last year, so having her there was the cherry on top of a great day.
Hobbies on Campus: TCNJ Ambassadors, Pre-Vet Club
Hobbies off campus: Horse-back riding, running
Sports: Volleyball, Horse-back riding
Favorite place on campus: The map rooms in the Social Sciences Building. If you don’t know what the map rooms are…well, you’re missing out on a great study spot.
Favorite thing about TCNJ: Being able to walk from my dorm to class and seeing ten people I know and ten people I don’t know. I love the sense of community and feeling like I can go anywhere on campus and find someone I know!
Best/favorite way to spend a Saturday: Brunch at Eickhoff, then getting meal equiv at the café, sitting outside in alumni grove until it’s too cold, and then hanging out with friends in your room until it’s way too late and you realize you could have spent the entire day studying- but it doesn’t matter because you just made some of the weirdest inside jokes with your best friends.
Favorite Actress: I wouldn’t consider myself an avid movie-goer, but I’m a sucker for a strong female lead. Especially the sarcastic, witty ones. Rashida Jones is probably one of my favorites. Mila Kunis has definitely gone up on my list, too.
Favorite movie: Mean Girls will always be a favorite. Easy A is hysterical. Bridesmaids brought me to tears.
Favorite band/musician: Maroon 5, Third Eye Blind, Rihanna. I will listen to anything!
What’s an ideal first date? Something not too serious or set-up. I think the best dates revolve around intellectual conversation, so anything that could potentially start a good talk is an ideal first date to me.
Pet peeves or weird habits? I can’t go to sleep if something in my room is out of place because I’m a total neat freak.
Three words that describe you: Passionate, eccentric, fun!
Plans for the future: I applied to Vet School, so we’ll see what happens with that. If I don’t get in, I plan on living at home with my parents and little sister and watch her go to Kindergarten while I work at a vet’s office.
Why did you choose TCNJ? Ever since my older brother visited TCNJ I knew I wanted to come here. It just felt like “college” to me. Now, four years later, I couldn’t be happier. The opportunities it has provided me with and the people I have met are truly amazing.
