An audience of all ages gathered at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa to witness Sublime with Rome kick off 2019 in Atlantic City this past January.

The ska punk collaboration band consists of Eric Wilson, the former bassist of the band Sublime and vocalist and guitarist Rome Ramirez. Rome has been with the group since 2009, and just a few years later, they released their own debut album titled Yours Truly in 2011.

A majority of the songs performed by the band were covers of popular Sublime hits, originally sang by Bradley Nowell. During the height of Sublime’s popularity in 1996, Nowell tragically died from a heroin overdose.

Sublime with Rome seemed to perfectly capture the band’s original reggae rock essence, while clearly resonating with both new and old fans. Their setlist ranged from crowd favorites of Sublime such as “Wrong Way” and “What I Got”, to an electrifying cover of “Scarlet Begonias” by the Grateful Dead.

The show was closed with “Santeria”, proving to be Sublime’s most well known song as audience members joined in on the lyrics. At the end of the night, Sublime with Rome had created an electrifying atmosphere and had kicked off the new year with an enthusiastic start.
