Style Watch: 5 Cute Summer to Fall Shoes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

As one season begins to transition into the next, we face the hardest challenge when getting dressed- what season do I dress for? While it may be easy to throw on a light jacket or trade in your denim shorts for jeans, it’s never easy to decide what pair of shoes to wear. It’s getting too cool for sandals and flip-flops, but it’s not quite time to break out our favorite pair of tall boots. To get you through that tough transition period, here are a few pairs of must-have shoes!

1. Booties– While it may be too warm for tall boots, it is the perfect time to wear small ankle boots. Nice booties are staples to have in your wardrobe, because they go with everything! They are easy to pair with jeans, skirts and dresses, and are perfect as the hot weather cools down.

2. Flats– Another wardrobe staple, flats can be worn any time, year-round, with any outfit. One pair of simple, neutral flats that go with everything are great to have, but it’s also nice to have a pair that stands out. Try flats in a bright color or with a cute design on them- they will add something new and fun that will complete any outfit!

3. Slip on shoes– Slip-on’s like Keds and Toms are perfect for the beginning of fall. They are definitely one of the most comfortable kinds of shoes out there, and perfect for throwing on quickly before class- knowing they’ll look cute with every outfit.

4. Lace-up/Combat boots– As the season changes, the weather can sometimes be a little unpredictable. For those days when it is a little cooler out than usual, lace-up or combat boots that cover up your ankles will give you the perfect amount of warmth.

5. Sneakers- And I don’t mean your old worn out gym sneakers. Fashionable sneakers are a huge trend, and they have styles for everyone. From high tops, to platform, to bold prints, there’s a sneaker out there for you- and yes, they are perfect for fall!
