Sophie Kay, ‘14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

This campus cutie is more of a campus beauty.  With supermodel good looks and a brilliant mind, this week’s cutie is a beautiful individual both inside and out.  Although Sophie will be attending Georgia Tech in the fall to pursue a doctorate in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology, this driven lady also has a goofy side.  Sophie is one of TCNJ’s most inspirational women and we want you to meet her too.

Relationship status: In a relationship

Hometown: Cedar Grove, N.J.

Age/year: Senior, 21

Major: Psychology

Campus organizations: President of Art Student Association, Former President of Psi Chi (The Psychology Honor Society) and Chair of Advertising and Fundraising for TCNJ Ultimate Frisbee

Post-grad plans: Going to graduate school and participating in the Ph. D. program in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology

Dream job: I’m undecided because I really don’t know what I like.  I might consult for a couple of years and eventually transfer into academia.

Favorite place you’ve ever traveled: Paris, but I also really love Tokyo.  I’m a big art buff and the food is great.

The number one thing on your bucket list: I’ve always wanted to write a children’s book and illustrate it myself!

Favorite band: The xx

Fun fact: I don’t have my ears pierced.

Biggest turn on: Wit, the ability to catch onto jokes and make really witty comments is attractive.  I also like intelligence.

Biggest turn off: Smokers

Celebrity girl crush: Angelina Jolie.  She does so much philanthropy.  She gives back to the world in so many ways and I really admire that.

Ideal first date: Food at a really really good restaurant.  I’m a big foodie and I love good, intelligent conversation.

Words to live by: “For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.  For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.  For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.  For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.  For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.  People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed.  Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.  As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.” – Sam Levenson

Hobbies: Ultimate Frisbee.  I also buy clothes at thrift stores and then I remake them.  It’s your own fashion statement and it’s so cheap.

Funny quirks: I’m almost always cold!

Best advice you’ve ever been given: Just be yourself and have fun.
