We all make New Year’s Resolutions every January 1st, so why not make some resolutions to start off the school year? Whichever academic year you’re starting, make sure to make the most of it! We all have certain areas in our life which we all know need to be maintained or improved, so let’s all be proactive and make this year a productive one!
Maintain Your Health. As this semester is starting up, make sure to stay focused on the most important thing: yourself. It’s important to concentrate on maintaining a healthy lifestyle while the overwhelming atmosphere of college is surrounding you. Try your best to not have Eick’s delicious pizza every day, and limit yourself to one yummy milkshake from T-Dubbs per week. Also, don’t forget mental health! While you’re all eager to learn and get involved, you must listen to your body when you need a break. All-nighters are never a good idea, and neither is that fourth cup of coffee you’re about to indulge in.
Stay (or get) Organized! Organization and time management are keys to success. Read over your courses’ syllabi and mark down when important projects are due, and do not wait until the night before to start! Procrastination will be your worst enemy, especially when Netflix only gives you 15 seconds to decide if you want to watch that next episode or not.
Get Involved. TCNJ has over 260 student organizations to join. Look into organizations/clubs that interest you and make the most out of this year by doing things that you love or that will help you with your studies!
Branch Out! Whether you’re a freshman who has thus far only hung out with his/her floor, or an upperclassman who is sticking with friends from the previous year(s), make sure to be open to meeting new people! Talk to people in your classes or the organizations that you’re a part of and put yourself out there to meet more people. You won’t regret it!
Stay On Top of Your Grades! The best for last…the real reason why we’re all at college. Whether your goal is to make Dean’s List or simply pass all of your classes, work hard to achieve your dreams. Make smart decisions and know when you need to skip going out to stay in and prepare for that exam coming up. Academics do (unfortunately) come first!
