Procrastination Station

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

It is officially the second month of classes and midterms are just around the corner – what better time to procrastinate flex your imagination? Close the books, put that calculator away and take a break for a few minutes of blissful nonsense here at Procrastination Station!

But first, let’s recap what you may have missed this week while camping in the Library. Demi and Ashton are flipping each other the equivalent of the bird on Twitter (Radar Online), Courtney Love is writing a memoir (Rolling Stone) and Bank of America wants to take your lunch money (Gawker). In college news, Seton Hall is rewarding smart kids with a 2/3 off tuition “discount” – what a novel idea! – and the University of New Hampshire thought it was a good idea to ban energy drinks (New York Times). Unsurprisingly, that lasted one day (NPR).

1. Be prepared to smile for 2 minutes straight with the “Evolution of Laughter.”

2. In case you needed another reason to lay off  unlimited breadsticks at Olive Garden (and maybe even carbs in general after this bit of information), Gawker provides a lovely tale of intestinal blockage.

3. Gotta have the weekly dose of “awww.” Looks like somebody’s ready for Halloween! Click for more!

4. Spoken word poetry isn’t your thing, eh? Sarah Kay will make you rethink that position with “Hands.” Guess what? This was her television debut at age 19, she’s now an alum of Brown University, founder of Project V.O.I.C.E. and has performed at the TED conference.

5. Remember the cup game? You’ll probably have this song stuck in your head for days…

Jessica is one half of the fantastic duo founding Her Campus on the leafy suburban campus that is The College of New Jersey. A Journalism major and Communications minor in the Class of 2012, she is a native of Pennsylvania and an adoptive resident of New Jersey. That's why she can't fist pump, but can pump gas. Before Her Campus, Jessica was a newspaper reporter, communications assistant and world traveler, having studied and interned abroad in London. When she's not writing or talking up a storm, Jessica can be found bargain shopping, catching up on a good book, fiddling with her camera or attempting to stay in shape. Other passions include hummus, tickling those ivories on the piano, meeting new people and all things Her Campus.
