Meet Dani DeQuintal, Creator of D’s Trendy Tees

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

Whether you’ve spotted her one-of-a-kind shirts around campus or follow her on Instagram, sophomore Dani DeQuintal has definitely made a name for herself at TCNJ.  Known for her creative and bright designs, Dani is making TCNJ a more colorful place, one shirt at a time.

Dani has been running her business, D’s Trendy Tees, and selling custom t-shirts for almost a year now.  Dani, an Elementary Education and iSTEM major, unexpectedly stumbled upon this passion of hers after receiving two TCNJ giveaway tank tops last year.

“I thought instead of just keeping two shirts looking the same, I’ll do something to one of them.  When I went home for the summer I added bleach to it and made it into a racer back top.”

After seeing her first creation, friends began asking Dani to design shirts for them and ultimately encouraged her to sell her designs to students at TCNJ.

“I don’t really know what happened from there, I just started making a whole bunch,” says Dani.  “I bought wooden letters that I can lay down over the shirt which I then bleach over, and that’s how it says TCNJ.  So I just started selling things from there.”

After some trial and error, Dani has perfected her designs, one of her most popular being this lace up.

In order to advertise and attract more customers, Dani runs @dstrendytees on Instagram.  “The Instagram has been fun! It’s been a really good way to connect with people,” says Dani.

When asked about where she sees her business going in the future, for the time being Dani wants to focus on homecoming, one of her busiest seasons.  After college, Dani plans to pursue a career in teaching but joked that she can still make her t-shirts when she’s off for the summer!
