Fall is one of the prettiest seasons of the year. The foliage is breathtaking and the weather is perfect. With the cooler weather and changing of the leaves comes many activities to partake in with friends for Insta-worthy pictures! TCNJ is located so close to a bunch of fun and relatively inexpensive places, if you make the journey you’re sure to have fun and get some cute pictures too! Here are a few:

Terhune Orchards: There’s never a shortage of things to do at Terhune Orchards in Princeton! Activities range from apple picking to finding your way through the corn maze. They also have barn animals and pumpkin picking! At Terhune Orchards, you’re sure to spend the whole day doing your favorite fall activities.

Grounds for Sculpture: Grounds for Sculpture is a fun day no matter the season, but in the fall it is especially exciting because of all the colorful leaves. Walking around in nature looking at beautiful sculptures is pleasant, but what makes this better is $10 student admission. Spend the day in Hamilton looking at all the beautiful and interesting sculptures with some of your closest friends.

Eastern State Penitentiary: This attraction is a bit further away from TCNJ, located in Philadelphia, but it is totally worth it if haunted houses are your thing! The former prison offers guided tours and self-guided tours. If you go you are sure to be scared – but it’s all in good fun and will make for some interesting stories!

Hunterdon PBA Fall Festival (October 22): Located in Flemington, NJ, this festival includes food trucks, live music, craft beer, and more! If you’re looking for a fun day off campus, this is your best bet!

Punk Rock Flea Market (October 29th and 30th): Located in Trenton, this flea market has dozens of food trucks and vendors. Buy your vintage clothing, jewelry, video games, and comic books. There’s even a Halloween costume contest!

River Horse: River Horse is a local New Jersey craft brewery that specializes in seasonal ales. Stop by to support a local business and enjoy some amazing beer – if you’re of age, of course!

Princeton: Take a day trip into Princeton! Since it is only 20 minutes away from campus, it is a fun way to spend a day. Walk around, eat some great food, people watch, and enjoy the fall scenery on a different campus.

Shady Brook Farm: located in Yardley, PA, this farm is perfect for Apple picking, buying food at the farmer’s market, or just enjoying the scenery. They also host HorrorFest, which includes the Hayride of Horror, Barn of Horror, Alien 3-D Encounter, and Carnage.

Fright Fest at Six Flags: Jackson, NJ is about 40 minutes from TCNJ, but to us it is a necessity in the fall. There’s nothing like walking through the scary decorations and getting spooked by zombies and scarecrows before going on thrilling rides!

Paint & Sip at Pinot’s Palette: while this Princeton studio hosts many events, paint & sip is a fan favorite! Bring your friends (and a bottle of wine) and enjoy an evening of artistry and alcohol!

TCNJ Homecoming: One of the best photo-ops is TCNJ’s Homecoming football game! The College offers so many events prior to the game like food, student performances, and a tailgate. The best part? Its free, and you don’t have to drive anywhere to get there!
