When I was younger, I used to have very curly hair. Years of blow drying, straightening, hairspraying, and so on completely killed my curls. I started to think maybe I only had curly hair as a kid and that I “grew out of it”. Well, I was completely wrong. I just wasn’t taking care of my hair properly. When you take time to do your hair, it will thank you.

To have perfect healthy curls, you need to train your hair to do what you want it to do. This is because for all these years, you were using heat to train it to do all of these other things. Now, you need to get it back to being healthy. First of all, apart from using hair products, I suggest cutting a few inches off your hair to help give your hair some life and cut off the dead ends.

Now, let’s get to the hair products. I know that we are all college girls balling on a budget, we can’t be spending all this money. Don’t worry because I’m a little cheap but I always make sure these products are good for me. Also, It can’t just be good for you, it has to be good for the animals too. All the hair products I will be mentioning are Cruelty-Free.

When I get into the shower, I make sure my hair is brushed and I get straight to shampooing. I like to shampoo my hair twice and condition once. So, the shampoo and conditioner I use is the Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish Shampoo and Conditioner. Why? This is the only cheaper shampoo and conditioner I have found that doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry. It also has definitely nourished my curls properly. The second I started using this, My hair started developing a nice curl pattern while I let it air dry.

Before I let my hair air dry. I like to apply some creams and sprays in it. I like to put Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish leave-in treatment (air dry buttercream). I put a small amount in my palm and I rub both of my hands together and smear it into my hair, then I scrunch my hair. After that, I like to spray the Marc Anthony Curl Booster in my hair while scrunching it. I like this product because it really does boost my curls, just don’t use too much of it because it gives your hair a crunchy type of feeling if you use too much. After all this, my hair feels soft, voluminous, and it smells so good.

If you are not a fan of the Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish leave-in treatment, I also use Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls cream. I like to alternate my products to see if I get different results, and I love this curl cream. It’s just more expensive than the other option. It does smell amazing though, my hair smells good even two days later. I do not have a substitute option for the Marc Anthony Curl Booster spray because that’s the only one that has really worked for me.

Then, after putting on my creams and sprays, I like to plop my hair in a long sleeve shirt and then I go to sleep. I wake up and take it out and my hair looks great! If your hair is still a little wet in the morning just diffuse it and you’ll be fine. Here’s my disclaimer, This may not work for everyone because I have 3A curls according to this Hair Chart, so your results might be different.
