Guessing What My Spotify Wrapped is Going to Look Like

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

My favorite time of the year is here. Some people look forward to the Emmys, the MET Gala, Grammys, or whatever other award show that has everyone sitting on Twitter. That being said, my personal “Grammy Award Night” is the yearly Spotify Wrapped. If you don’t know what any of this is about, Spotify Wrapped is a deep dive into all the artists, songs (and even podcasts) that you listened to through Spotify that year.

I’d like to think I have a pretty good understanding of which songs I have listened to the most in 2021. So before Spotify blesses me with fun little graphics and a giant playlist ranking all the songs I listened to the most this year, I’m going to see how good my memory is and guess a few myself.

Spotify typically lists about 100 songs on the playlist overall; I will be looking at the top 10 songs that I think I listened to the most this year and my reasonings become progressively shorter as the list goes on.

Butter by bts

I’m incredibly confident that this song will be at number one as my most streamed song of the year. Back in July, Spotify shared a way to see if you were a top fan of your favorite artist through todaystopfans.byspotify.com. When I first did this, I found out that I had listened to “Butter” for 289 hours. Since July, I certainly have heard this song a lot more often, so if this isn’t my most listened-to song of the year, then it must be the second one on my list.

Favorite crime by olivia rodrigo

Listen. Did I go through a devastating breakup this year? No. Did I even go through a point where I didn’t get past the talking stage? Nope. Do I love sad breakup songs? Yeah. Olivia Rodrigo’s album “Sour” came out earlier this year, and I was attached to this one in particular. Don’t get me wrong; I listened to the album a lot on repeat. However, this specific song was definitely played the most, and it did not leave me “On Repeat” playlist for months.

GOOD DAYS BY SZA

I don’t know how I almost forgot about this song, given the fact that I remember listening to it on repeat from May to the end of July every time I walked to work. Between this song being in so many video edits that popped up on my Instagram explore page, to TikTok trends, she’s definitely staying in the top 10.

te amo by calema

I wrote about this song as one of my first articles of the semester, but much like SZA’s Good Days, Calema has stayed on repeat since I found the song back in May as well.

I don’t have any explanation for this other than I saw an Instagram edit of Judd and TK from the TV series 9-1-1 Lone Star with this song, and I have loved it ever since.

These aren’t in the order in which I think they will be, but I feel these ten songs will be the top ones out of the 100 songs Spotify has decided I listened to the most. I can’t wait for Spotify Wrapped to come out, so I can see and share the results! Don’t allow anyone to tell you that they don’t care about your Spotify Wrapped, please feel free to share yours, I love seeing what everyone has been listening to!
