“When you’re an introvert like me and you’ve been lonely for a while, and then you find someone who understands you, you become really attached to them. It’s a real release.”

This highly relatable quote is from the one and only Lana Del Rey: a woman who has gotten me through so many ups and downs in my life. Through her music and her lyrics, she has touched many people’s hearts around the world and has given them a reason to keep listening to music. She is one of a kind and one of the music industry’s most underrated artists. Her songs are always on repeat on my Spotify playlists.

In honor of Lana’s new album that will be released on October 22, I will go through each studio album Lana has released and rate (in no particular order) the top five best songs (in my opinion). Through these songs, Lana showcases her beautiful voice and catchy beats which makes these songs absolutely astounding. Let’s get into it!

Born to Die

This album was released on January 27, 2012 and has a total of 12 songs. This album really set the vibes of her future music. These songs are also classics from Lana which makes them so wondrous to listen to. My top five songs from the album are:

“Blue Jeans”

“Video Games”

“Million Dollar Man”

“Radio”

“Dark Paradise”

Paradise

This album was released on November 9, 2012, and showcases 8 songs. This collection of songs are truly amazing. This album was combined with Born to Die as a deluxe version and on that version, there are 3 new additional songs in addition to the Paradise and Born to Die album songs. I’m going to combine the Paradise songs with the 3 new deluxe version songs for this rating, which makes the number of songs to choose from 11. My top songs from this album are:

“Ride”

“Gods & Monster”

“Without You”

“Lucky Ones”

“Body Electric”

Ultraviolence

This album was released on June 13, 2014, and has 16 songs featured on it. This album will really put you in your feels, which makes it a genuine album to release all your emotions. Throughout Ultraviolence, there’s a sense of ‘dejected girl’ vibes entwined with Lana’s well-written lyrics. My top five songs from this album are:

“Brooklyn Baby”

“Shades of Cool”

“West Coast”

“The Other Woman”

“Sad Girl”

Honeymoon

This album was released on September 18, 2015, and has 8 songs on it. The album makes you feel like you’re on a morose honeymoon and you’re trying to communicate all your emotions as they go up and down. This album kind of gives me Ultraviolence energy, with heavy emphasis on the ‘dejected girl’ vibes. My top five songs from this album are:

“God Knows I Tried”

“Freak”

“24”

“Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”

“Black Beauty”

Lust for life

This album was released on July 21, 2017, and features 16 wonderful songs. This is one of my favorite albums from Lana because I truly love all the songs on here. She really expresses her emotions clearly through this album which is why I love it so much. Lust for Life feels more upbeat, as if she is finally moving past her ‘dejected girl’ phase. It’s hard to just pick five, but here are my top five songs from this album:

“Love”

“Cherry”

“God Bless America”

“Get Free”

“Groupie Love”

Norman f*cking Rockwell

This album was released on August 30, 2019, and has 14 songs. This is probably my favorite album from Lana because all the songs are bops. She has such beautiful vocals throughout Norman F*cking Rockwell, and I’m always singing songs from this album around my house. Again, It was really hard picking only five, but my top songs from this album are:

“Norman F*cking Rockwell”

“Cinnamon Girl”

“How to Disappear”

“Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have”

“Bartender”

Chemtrails over the country club

This album was recently released on March 19, 2021, and has 11 songs featured on it. It is also very good and has a mix of different genres in each song. I really like how Lana showcases her different vocal tones, especially in the first song listed below. My top five songs from this album are:

“White Dress”

“Tulisa Jesus Freak”

“Wild at Heart”

“Dark but just a Game”

“Yosemite”

Blue banisters

This album is set to be released on October 22, 2021. This will be Lana’s latest album and will consist of 15 songs. She has already released 4 songs from this album–– all of which I already love. Since the album hasn’t been released yet, I’m going to write another article to address this album and include some of my favorite songs from there. I want to mention the four songs that she did release:

“Blue Banisters”

“Textbook”

“Wildflower Wildfire”

“Arcadia”

unreleased songs

I also want to give a mention to Lana’s unreleased songs that I love so much. These songs are truly captivating because they range to so many different styles. My top five unreleased songs from Lana are:

“Queen of Disaster”

“Afraid”

“Kill Kill”

“Fine China”

“Yes to Heaven”

If you haven’t listened to any of these songs from Lana, go on YouTube or any other music streaming service and give them a listen. Please also listen to her other songs on her albums, her unreleased songs, and her songs that are featured in movies such as, “Young and Beautiful” and “Season of the Witch.” You, too, will fall in love with her words and music as I have. Stream her new album coming out on October 22 to show some well deserved love to Lana!
