Homecoming is here and before you head out to the tailgate and game tomorrow, make sure you have the right outfit on. Not only is it the best time of the year to show your school spirit with your blue and gold, but it is also time to show everyone how you display your TCNJ pride. Don’t think you need to wear the classic TCNJ sweatshirt. Style it up with these tips and hints from two of this year’s potential campus royalty.
Go All Out!
Ambassador and one of this year’s candidates for Homecoming Queen 2012 Janika Berridge says you can’t go wrong with the classic TCNJ attire at Homecoming, but don’t be afraid to go all out!
“To get into the school spirit, you cannot go wrong with anything blue, yellow, blue AND yellow, or TCNJ attire in general,” says Janika. “Dress up like Roscoe if you have to!”
Polish Club representative and one of this year’s Homecoming King candidates Mateusz Szafran says to own your outfit no matter what it be.
“Be bold, confident, and have fun with your attire, whether you wore tutus for cheer, some sleek kicks for the three-legged race, or even throw on some ABC for the Lip Sync/Dance,” says Mateusz. “And obviously don’t forget to whip out your blue & gold TCNJ gear from your closets!”
Be Classy Like the Court!
If you want to show your true support for this year’s senior class, dress up and be classy like the court! Janika and Mateusz say it is important to be classy during the halftime ceremony.
“Go all out!” says Mateusz. “You’re only on Homecoming Court once. Classy, funny, outrageous – Let TCNJ never forget THE CLASS OF 2013!”
No matter what the court wears though, Janika thinks it is best to remember to dress practically, as well.
“Judging from the court last year, classy is definitely the way to go,” says Janika. “A nice, simple dress for the queens and a suit for the kings. Remember, no heels! Not unless you want to get stuck in the turf!”
Keep it a Surprise!
Just as the Homecoming Court is keeping their attire a mystery, surprise your friends with whatever you feel like wearing when the day comes! Offer subtle hints, but when the tailgate starts, strut your stuff with your best TCNJ outfit on – that’s what the court is going to do!
When asked what she plans on wearing, Janika replied with the best answer yet.
“Clothes!” she said.
Mateusz on the other hand offered a little more insight into this outfit.
“I plan on being a little conspicuous and school-spirited with my outfit that will even impress President Gitenstein!” he said. “Definitely classy, hopefully a little funny, and undoubtedly suspenseful!”
Do you know what you’re wearing yet? Come out to Homecoming 2012 and show off your school pride!
