With these simple tips from the stylish Sarah Scholz, you’ll be on your way to having the best decorated dorm on campus (besides hers, of course!)

Conceal with curtains.
Curtains can give even the most drab room a lift! Panel curtains in bright colors are a fun touch and cover up the institutional blinds provided by the school.

Bust clutter with bins!
Random items strewn about your room ends up looking sloppy. Bins in fun patterns help to organize items that can create clutter!

Pile on the pillows.Pretty throw pillows on your bed look lovely! Mix up the shape, size and pattern of pillows. You’ll surely have the most comfortable bed around!

Try a table.
Sometimes there is just too much stuff for your to fit onto your desk. Having a little table in your room provides the perfect spot to put decorative knick-knacks, books, or even a box of tissues.

Personalize with pictures.
Put a smile on your face by putting a picture of your significant other, mom, or cat in a frame by your bed! Show off your favorite friends memories by placing photos them around your room.

Let there be light!

Most dorm rooms have poor lighting. Brighten your room with floor and desktop lamps. Don’t forget surge protectors so you’ll have enough outlets to plug them in!

Jessica is one half of the fantastic duo founding Her Campus on the leafy suburban campus that is The College of New Jersey. A Journalism major and Communications minor in the Class of 2012, she is a native of Pennsylvania and an adoptive resident of New Jersey. That's why she can't fist pump, but can pump gas. Before Her Campus, Jessica was a newspaper reporter, communications assistant and world traveler, having studied and interned abroad in London. When she's not writing or talking up a storm, Jessica can be found bargain shopping, catching up on a good book, fiddling with her camera or attempting to stay in shape. Other passions include hummus, tickling those ivories on the piano, meeting new people and all things Her Campus.
