A Collegiette’s Guide to Living in the Moment: Fate and Destiny

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

“Accept the things to which f

ate binds you, and love the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart.” – Marcus Aurelius

We don’t know what is going to happen tonight, tomorrow, next month, or next year. This is one of the most beautiful things about life; we never know what is going to happen next. Each day is an exciting opportunity to meet someone new, enjoy a new experience, think new thoughts, meet new friends, find new love, and discover new passions. Where do we find the opportunities to do these things? What causes these things to happen to us? These opportunities are gifts from fate. Your passions, your drive, and your motivation shape your fate. When you follow your passions and your dreams, fate will guide you to your destiny.

This is the time in our lives when we discover what we love and use our passions to define who we are. When we are doing what we love, we are going to meet people, find places, and explore thoughts that will teach us so much about the world and ourselves. Every day is an opportunity for this.

There are times in life when it is difficult to look at a new experience or opportunity with optimism. While a new school year is exciting, it can often feel daunting, as well. For times like these there is something I always try to keep in mind. Take the new experience, no matter what it is, and try to get something new out of it. From every new experience there is something to be learned, and if you take that new knowledge with all of your heart, you can fully love your destiny. With each new day, you never know whom you are going to meet and what you are going to learn
