The Best and Worst Pick-Up Lines Used by TCNJ Men

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

Pick-up lines.  Love them or hate them, we’ve all heard them.

Do you have a name, or can I just call you mine?

Is that a mirror in your pocket, because I can see myself in your pants.

Are you Google? Because you’ve got everything I’m searching for.

The list goes on and on.  The big question is whether or not pick-up lines really work.  We were curious, so we asked TCNJ students about some of the best and worst pick-up lines that they have heard or have used themselves.

Chris S. – “One time I told a girl, “You’re so beautiful that you made me forget my pick-up line.” She didn’t really know how to respond to that, but I got a date out of it anyways!”

Jamal F. – ““Are you lost? Because heaven is a long way from here.”  It doesn’t usually work, but I’m hoping that one day it will.”

Connor K. – “I try not to use pick-up lines because they can be cheesy, but I have had luck when I say, “What does it feel like to be the most beautiful girl in this room?”  Girls are usually flattered by it and it doesn’t make me come off like a creep.  To be fair, I only say it when I mean it though.”

Austin D. – “Once I said, “Do you have any raisins? (The girl would say no) Then how about a date?” I thought it was hilarious and the girl laughed, but I never did get that date.”

Sarah R. – “A guy once told me, “You should go stand in front of a mirror holding 11 roses, so that you could see 12 of the most beautiful things in the world.”  It was really sweet and really creepy at the same time!”

Christine K. – “The best pick-up line a guy has used on me was, “Hi, my name is Doug.  That’s ‘God’ spelled backwards, but with a little bit of you wrapped up in it.”  I give him props for being original, but let’s be honest, that’s not the best way to get a girl’s attention.”

Lindsay M. – “This one guy said to me, “I seemed to have lost my number.  Can I have yours?”  I felt bad for the guy so I gave him my number since he was brave enough to actually use that line.”

Vicky L. – “I’ll never forget the time in class when I sneezed and a guy turned around to me and said, “I would say God bless you, but it looks like he already did.”  That completely made my day and it was a great way for him to introduce himself.”

Pick-up lines are all about the delivery.  Sometimes they are cheesy, but if said with confidence and received with a sense of humor, they can be great conversation starters.

So girls, next time a guy uses a pick-up line on you, don’t be so quick to turn him down.  After all, he did have enough courage to try and start a conversation with you.

And guys, next time you decide to use a pick-up line, choose it wisely because it could cost you a date with that girl you’ve wanted to get to know all semester!
