The Twilight movies all make up a very iconic franchise. Based off of the popular book series from Stephenie Meyer, each movie is unique, and especially entertaining, in their own way. The first movie premiered in 2008, starring Kristen Stewart as Bella and Robert Pattinson as Edward. Followed by its four sequels, with the last movie split into two parts, the franchise has left a mark on millions of fans and more in the years since all of them have aired. Every movie was added to Netflix U.S. in July of 2021. Since then, a passion for the movies has been reignited and taken TikTok by storm. Each movie has provided the audience with a list of memorable moments, lines, and memes. Throughout the years, the movies have been known for their lasting impact on pop culture. That being said, let’s get into five moments of the Twilight Saga that need to be talked about. Spoiler alert for anyone that has not seen the films.

#7: The Blue Hue

The Twilight Saga Edward and Bella

The first movie’s consistent blue lens is arguably one of the most important roles in the entire film. It creates a pale haze over the entire movie, which coincides with the mysterious and ominous lives of the vampires in the film. Along with this, it creates a distinction between the first movie and the rest of them. It introduces the Cullens to us in a way that leaves them completely closed off and entirely mysterious. The eerie vibes in this movie are unmatched, and to see it in a hue other than light blue would definitely be strange, and way less iconic.

#6: Baseball Game

In the first movie of the franchise, the iconic Cullen family hosts a very memorable game of baseball. This isn’t just any game of baseball, it’s a vampire baseball game. Every element of baseball is completely heightened. The bat swinging, the ball throwing, and the running are all at a completely different level. Mixed with the blue hue of the movie itself, the baseball game is one of the most iconic moments from the films. I think we’re all Bella’s facial expressions of complete awe in this scene. Not to mention, the fact that they can only play during a thunderstorm (due to the noise level of the bat hitting the ball) is what makes it all the more interesting.

#5: “Spider Monkey”

In the first movie, Edward creates a very interesting nickname for Bella before he shows her his heightened vampire speed. Edward says, “Hold on tight, spider monkey.” This one needs to be talked about because of how random and simultaneously strange it is in the franchise. While very funny to recall, it’s even more funny to watch it play out. Edward, a normally reserved and stiff character, delivering a line like this is something that needs to be talked about for the rest of eternity. While funny, the line is also very iconic, because of its origin from the book series.

#4: The 20 Minute Fight Scene

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part Two features one of the most memorable scenes in the entire franchise. It consists of the fight scene, where the Cullens, along with several other vampire friends, and Jacob and his pack of werewolves, team up against the Volturis. In the movies, the Volturis, specifically one of their leaders, Aro, are the villains of the final films. They have an issue with Edward and Bella’s daughter, so they decide to meet in a snowy field for a quick vampire-werewolf battle. The reason why this scene needs to be discussed is because of the misdirection the audience is led in with this scene. Due to a vision by Alice, which the audience doesn’t know about, the potential destruction of the battle is depicted. Without warning, the audience had to watch some of their favorite characters be removed, one by one. That is, until it is revealed that the entire battle was just a vision, and everyone was able to breathe a sigh of relief. It’s one of the most impactful scenes to come out of the franchise, due to the fact that it leaves the audience in the dark for long, before revealing the misdirection they were led in.

#3: Charlie Swan

Bella’s dad, Charlie, is arguably one of the most rational characters in the whole franchise. While Bella is running off with the Cullen’s or making questionable decisions, Charlie would always ask, “why?” Which considering the circumstances, is probably one of the most level-headed things to do. He also tries to spend time with Bella, and is there for her all throughout Twilight: New Moon, when she struggles with depression after Edward leaves. Not to mention, he gives her pepper spray when a series of “animal attacks” start occurring around their area. Overall, Charlie is just that character. He even decorated Bella’s new room for her when she first moved to Forks.

#2: Edward and Bella’s Wedding

This was, undoubtedly, the vampire-human wedding of the century. It was all due to the flowers, Bella’s dress, Edward’s tux, and the excitement of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part One. If anyone had any doubts about the impact of a vampire-human wedding, they were immediately silenced after they saw the beautiful scenery of the venue. The altar was surrounded by hanging white flowers, and flower petals covered a majority of the aisle. It was just overall, extremely iconic and very memorable. It was a picturesque moment of the book coming to life.

#1: “Bella! Where the hell have you been, loca?”

Coming in at #1, we have one of the most meme-worthy, iconic, and memorable moments from the entire franchise. Jacob Black approaches Bella, who he hasn’t seen in a while, with a phrase that would take TikTok by storm, even nearly twelve years later. This meme-worthy moment lives in our brains rent-free, even twelve years after it first premiered. Pictures of this scene, with the line as a caption, have also been made into shirts and stickers, all of which are completely valid.
