5 Fall/Winter Beauty Predictions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

As summer swiftly comes to a close, a lot of us are getting ready to get back into the normal (or almost normal) swing of things. Along with colder weather, and our beloved pumpkin flavored treats, our makeup products will be tagging along with us for the new season! Whether it be your dorm, bedroom, office building, classroom, or wherever you are heading off to this fall. Here are 5 winter/fall beauty trend predictions for this 2021!

1. Glassy Skin

With so many new and emerging tinted moisturizers and lightweight foundations on the market right now, it feels like “cakey” coverage may be a thing in the past. With falling temperatures, some may think that full-coverage will re-emerge, but I challenge this. With self-care and skincare still being a hot topic right now, I think everyone is very much into the no-makeup makeup look. Seeing how glistening and gorgeous it can look, it seems that less is most certainly more! My favorite “no-makeup” face product is the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream

2. Dark Liquid Lips

While it seems the liquid lip was all the rage in recent years (and still is a hit for some) I feel that lippies have not been as popular, especially with the lack of going outside. I predict we may have a dark glam makeup revival on our hands, specifically moody burgundys and magentas. I’m certainly not mad at it if it happens, it might give me an opportunity to get more into matte lips! My favorite liquid lips are the tried and true NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams.

3. Individual Lashes

Long, fluttery lashes can be such a treat, but a hassle to keep in place at times. I’ve been on a recent hunt for natural looking lashes, and individual lashes allow you to create your own custom eyelash look which I love. If you don’t feel like breaking the bank for lash extensions, these are also a great alternative. With a little mascara, they can provide just that little bit of drama to your everyday eye look. My favorite individual lashes to use are the Ardell Duolash Naturals

4. Liquid Lip Tint/Blush

This was such a lifesaver for me over the summer when I felt a bit dull within my complexion. I can confidently say I still think this will be popular in the winter. Not only are lip tint/blush duos convenient, but they are super effective. I just love a blushing look, even if you can achieve the same thing naturally in these cold winter months! My favorite tint that I swear by is the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush.

5. Bronzer as Eyeshadow

This is a makeup hack that I have been doing for a while now, but have recently seen it catching on. It is so convenient to add some color to your cheekbones and eyelids with the same product! And with the bronzer/contour shades being similar to the natural shadows, why didn’t we think about this before? Or at least I didn’t know! My favorite contour to use for this is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit.

I hope some of these predictions got you thinking about what your beauty routine might look like in the coming months. Whatever it may be, have fun creating!
