Let’s face it, Valentine’s Day is so last year. This perfectly pink aesthetic holiday is made for the gals. February 14th is now reserved for celebrating a girl’s real soulmates, her best friends. Galentine’s Day is taking over.

So if your February 14th does not include plans with a significant other, that doesn’t mean you have to spend your day alone. That’s your sign to round up the girls and have the best Galentine’s Day yet. Here are four things you can do to ignore the couple’s posts and spend time with your true loves.

Brunch with Your Besties

On Valentine’s Day, do not try to fight with couples for a table at an ordinary restaurant, or pay the inflated prices on the special holiday menu. You and your best friends should get together and do what girls do best: brunch. A cute cafe or aesthetic bistro will be the perfect backdrop for a brunch date with the gals. Order a mimosa (or find a bottomless brunch where you can order ten) and start the day right with a divine plate of french toast and a ton of laughs.

Slumber Party

Nothing says girl time like an old-fashioned slumber party. You and your friends can watch a cute rom-com, or for that day specifically, a movie that frankly contains no hint of romance. You can paint each others’ nails, do face masks, and eat all your favorite guilty pleasure snacks. And to complete the perfect slumber party, stay up all night reliving your and your besties’ greatest memories, laughing at your exes, and gossiping the night away. These nights are perfect for a girl’s soul.

Photo Shoot

A girl always feels better about themselves when they wear something they feel their best in. Take the time to do your hair (or get a blowout to feel extra special), do your makeup, and put on your favorite outfit, whatever you feel prettiest in (points if it’s red or pink). Gather your friends, find a cute location or artsy backdrop, and have yourselves a photo shoot! Take single shots and pose with your besties. Whether it’s to post or just for yourself, these photos will make you feel your best and remind you that you look your best when you’re happy and with your gals.

Self-Care Day

The most important gal in your life is yourself. Take this day to focus on yourself and your self-love. Put your phone away; don’t get caught up looking at all the couples. Go out and grab your favorite Starbucks drink, get your favorite meal, or get all the ingredients to cook at home if that makes you feel happy. Take a bubble bath or a nice long shower, light a candle, put on a face mask, and start to journal. Reflect on all the great things in your life and all the things you have a love for because there’s so much more to love in this world than a significant other. Make the day about celebrating how your life is now, not thinking about how it could have been.

So this Valentine’s Day, do not sit at home thinking that there is nothing for you to do. This day was made for you to celebrate the love you have for yourself and the best people around you, your girlfriends. Galentine’s day is a day to honor true love. It’s a real holiday that deserves to be celebrated by all the single (and taken) ladies out there.
