Ever since we’ve had to start wearing masks my skin has been through a lot.  As someone who has dealt with acne for years, this was tough for me because I was finally getting to a good point where my skin was clearing up. I started breaking out left and right, I felt like I was back in high school with the way my skin was acting. I started to do some digging and trying to see what products I could use to help get my skin back to where it was. Eventually, I finally found a skincare routine that helped me get my skin back to some normalcy. I’m hoping that sharing my routine with you and the products I use can also help you get your skin back to the way it was.

The first step in my routine is cleansing, it is so important to cleanse your skin. Mainly because this helps take off a lot of the dirt and grime your skin takes on throughout the day. The best cleanser that I was able to find is the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser. This cleanser itself is for oil control and is labeled for normal to oily skin. I use this in the morning when I get up and at night before I get into bed.

My next step is to use The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid Toning Solution. I love this product, it is good for exfoliating and help to tone your skin. This I only use at night because it is a stronger chemical on the skin.

The next step I only do once or twice a week and is The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. This product went viral on TikTok, which is what compelled me to buy it and try it for myself. It’s good for extra exfoliation and helps fight clogged pores. Which is why I only use it a few times a week just because it is a strong exfoliant chemical.

The next thing I do in my routine is to combine The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. I like to combine them together because it’s just easier to settle them onto the skin at the same time since they both treat different areas of the face. The Niacinamide helps pores appear smaller and reduces bacteria that can cause blemishes. The Hyaluronic Acid helps to hydrate the skin by enhancing moisture content and helps revitalize the skin’s outer layers so that they feel softer and smoother. I like to use these in the mornings and at night every day, it is important to use these before you put any creams on. I like to use the Niacinamide in the places where I know I get the most acne. I also like to use the hyaluronic acid on my dry spots to give them that extra hydration.

The last step in my routine is to use a moisturizer, now any moisturizer is good but I like to use the CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion. I use this moisturizer at night because that’s how its instructed on the label. In the morning I will use either the E.L.F. Happy Hydration Cream or the E.L.F Daily Hydration Face Moisturizer. Both are amazing and work great, but honestly, you really can’t go wrong with these moisturizers.

Those are my steps in my skincare routine and hopefully, it gives you some insight on skincare and helps you fight that mask acne.
