It’s Fall y’all!

It’s time to break out the cozy essentials such as blankets, fuzzy socks, sweaters, and warm candles. Despite all the warm fuzzy feelings we get with the cool breeze, we also have to prepare for midterms. The word midterm may spell trouble in your head but have no fear – here are some tips, tricks and beats to help you through your Fall study sesh.

Pick a Spot

Find a place you feel most focused. Don’t worry about picking the picture-perfect place, you’re going to be studying anyway. Everyone has different preferences in study spots; while you might like the local Starbucks, your friend might be most zen in a corner of the library. If you can’t think of a specific place to go, don’t worry about it. You could study at your desk, by a window, and even in your closet. But if you really want to try a new spot or just get out there, you could try packing your backpack and just roaming campus. Who knows, you could find the perfect place without even realizing it.

Keeping Warm

No matter where you study, be sure to have everything you need with you. You want to be prepared to stay focused and alert through anything your professors may surprise you with. If you’re outside try bringing a blanket or jacket with you to stay warm or even take a seat in the grass. If you’re studying inside, think about wearing a sweater and sweats in case you’re one to get cold; if not, take a cozy blanket just for the fluff.

SNACKS. SNACKS. SNACKS.

Yes honey, it’s time for snacks. If you’re like me, I constantly have Jolly Ranchers in my bag. Chewing gum is usually the go-to treat, but if you have a snack that you love to munch on – go for it! Whether you like fruit and nuts or chips and dip, make sure you can stay clean and focused throughout your work. If you need a full-blown snack break, time it out. Don’t lose the streak you were on because of some pumpkin spice pretzels pulling you away.

Add Some Beats

Music can really set the mood for how well you are going to work and how motivated you are to do it. For the season, let’s throw in some spooky lo-fi instead of some normal lo-fi.

And if you’re not one for lo-fi, try some piano tunes: https://youtu.be/qlJzmdC5GWc

All Said and Done

When all your midterms are said and done, don’t fret, a little self-care is waiting for you. Grab your robe and light a candle. Be easy to sit back and relax. You can take some time to yourself wherever you are. You don’t need to be in your room to be relaxed. Anywhere can be a relaxing place – the car, hair salon, or waiting in line at Whataburger. Even a quick bathroom break can be a relaxing moment. Take some breaths in and out, count to 10 and smile.
