For my high school graduation, I bought myself my very first Coach Bag. I didn’t know that it would start a passion for collecting bags.

Now two years later, I have 9 bags, including vintage and modern purses.

I have small bags that hold a singular lipstick, medium bags that hold my wallet, Kindle, sunglasses, and HUGE bags that hold my MacBook, 13-inch iPad, and my entire life.

So, I will be recommending 5 essential bags (not the Brooklyn 28 or the Teri) for the College Girl!

First, we have to establish what makes a good purse. They’re expensive, and to last, they need to be of good quality. I like to buy genuine leather, not patent. That helps the bag last longer and be more durable. I also prefer bags with a zipper so my things won’t fall out and have an extra layer of security. I prefer shoulder bags, it’s easy access and just looks better. I don’t like crossbody personally. Lastly, I love to have pockets!

  1. Plaza Bag 18

This bag is the perfect going-out purse! It holds the essentials: your lip gloss, wallet, and phone. It’s not going to be the most spacious bag, but it’s cute, holds up well, and is stylish! It zips up so nothing falls out, which is definitely a requirement in my book.

This bag does come in a bigger size (Plaza Bag 25), but I think this size is perfect for a night on the town!

  1. Asher Shoulder Bag

This bag has to be one of the most underrated bags! It is so cute, very trendy right now, and is incredibly spacious. This would be a day trip bag, or an everyday bag! It could fit your phone, wallet, keys, and digital camera, plus some extra items. It doesn’t look bulky at all and has a unique shape. I am in love!

  1. Station Tote Bag

Now this tote is my current schoolbag! It holds my iPad, laptop, lunch, a Celsius, my pencil case, wallet, keys, hair-clips, and some random items I’ve thrown in. This is so useful if you want to have a more chic schoolbag, but you don’t want to sacrifice space or quality! It comes in 14 colors, so you definitely have options!

For these next two, I’m going to choose vintage bags. There are a lot of these bags on Depop, Poshmark, Facebook Groups, anywhere! But for those who prefer vintage items, these are for you!

  1. XL Ergo Hobo Bag with Turnlock

I just got this bag this week! I am absolutely obsessed with it. It is slouchy without looking sloppy and holds my iPad and my MacBook, while also holding the essentials. It also has a pocket at the front that could hold my phone or a digital camera! There are different sizes if you want a smaller bag as well.

  1. Soho Flap Bag

This is such a staple in the early 2000s, and it’s definitely making a comeback. It is so cute, it has a flap so nothing falls, and a back pocket to hold your phone. It’s a great handbag, it comes in large and mini! It’s very versatile, it can be for a night out or a cute shopping trip!
