The Audiobook Crazy

I know, I know. I’m extremely late to the crazy, but that’s because I always thought audiobooks were a little too costly. As an avid reader, buying book after book isn’t affordable. Some are twenty bucks a pop! And when I’m consumed with a series? Please. I am not waiting to go to the library for the book. The fastest, and most affordable way, is to find the book through other means… Of course, I would never pirate a book. But if I did, I will always make sure to leave a review on my goodreads account.

But when it comes to being on a plane or suffering through a long car ride, books just can’t help with the boredom. But audiobooks can!

As I was traveling all through Europe this last semester, thanks abroad, I consumed audiobooks. But again, price wasn’t on my side. If I was going on a plane, I had to download the audiobook. But luckily apple books has a section for books under 5 dollars. So the dent in my bank account wasn’t too severe.

And when I was taking a bus or train, it was audiobooks via youtube. Thank goodness for wifi. But if you have no idea what book to listen to, youtube can be a little daunting. I look at some of the more popular books on my TBR (goodreads for the win) and try searching. The book has to have been released for a couple months already and has to have a decent following already or your chances of finding an audiobook on youtube is zilch.

Recently I started listening to Heartless Hunter. This is great for when I am walking to class or have a throbbing headache and can’t stand the light. It also makes chores far more enjoyable. And it’s an easier way to achieve that 52 book goal I recently set on Goodreads. Wish me luck!

Howdy! I’m Gabriela Gomez, an avid reader who is interested in all areas of publishing and writing. And reading of course! I’m the Editor-in-Chief; I currently oversee all the publishing of articles for the Her Campus at TAMU chapter. I am overjoyed to read all the members’ articles and make any corrections that will help to elevate the article.
I have been with Her Campus at TAMU since my freshman year. The first year I was a general member on the Writing and Editing committee. During that first year, I wrote a total of 23 articles and was always finding new ways to help. For my second year, I worked as the Senior Editor, publishing more than 80 articles and writing 38 articles. Now in my second semester of junior year, I have implemented a new pitch process for better organization and cleanest, I have already published more than 170 articles, and I have written 16 articles and will continue writing more!
Besides working as the Editor-in-Chief, I am a dedicated student at Texas A&M studying Biomedical Sciences. I am also obtaining a minor in both English and Spanish. While not studying diligently, I work in a research lab grinding away, trying to get my name on some research papers (fingers crossed).
In my free time, I read, obviously. I am also on the hunt for the best latte to ever bless this earth and love a good game of chess!
