Celebrating your birthday should never be stressful; coming up with a theme can be. There are several different themes, and it can honestly be overwhelming. My birthday was in March, and I struggled trying to think/pick a theme for my birthday. Every time I would look on Instagram, I would see all these girls with the cutest birthday themes. Which only made it harder to pick one. So if you have a birthday coming up, don’t stress. Here are my top 5 favorite birthday themes.

Let’s get wiggy with it or wiggin out.

Now, honestly, this is my personal favorite because it’s the theme I did this year for my birthday. It is honestly such a cute and easy theme. The only requirement is that everyone must wear a wig! Now it’s completely up to you if you want everyone to wear bright colored bobs, long wigs, or any wig. For my birthday, I had everyone wear fun, colorful wigs and all-black outfits. I wanted the wigs to stand out. Now you don’t have to have a dress code; that’s completely up to you! I’ve seen some people wear outfits that match their wigs. For example, if someone is wearing a hot pink wig, they would wear a hot pink outfit to match! It is such a simple theme, but you can add to it to make it more you. But be prepared for a lot of head turns and questions. I honestly loved the attention from everyone. You get to tell everyone it’s your birthday and receive free treats and drinks!

Party Animal or Let’s get wild.

This is another simple yet cute theme. For this one, you just need to get out all of your animal print clothes and items! There will be a dress code for this one: animal print. Everyone can wear different kinds of animal prints! Animal print is definitely a popular print; there are so many cute cheetah or zebra print tops. As for decorations, you could do a mix of animal print and jungle-themed decor. Think of the cute jungle leaves; add them to the backdrop, or just have them as a prop. Animal print is easy to find at several stores, and it’s so cute.

Fancy Nancy

I have seen this theme everywhere recently, and I think it is the cutest thing ever. As a kid, did you ever read the Fancy Nancy books? Well, imagine it as a birthday party. The dress code for this theme is a lot of colorful, bright clothing. Lots of boas, glitter, and tiaras. Pink and purple are Fancy Nancy’s main colors; however, you don’t have to limit yourself to that! For decorations, streamers, paper chains, balloons- anything that screams cutesy and girly. There is so much you can do with decorations, and it can all be based on your interpretation. I also imagine this party as a tea party. Having finger foods, sandwiches, charcuterie boards, scones, etc. You don’t have to have tea if you don’t like it, but it would definitely be cute to have little tea cups just for decor or a photo opp. If you love to decorate, I would recommend this theme for you!

Glitz and gold

Glitz and gold are as simple as they sound. It is an easier theme, but it is so cute. There is so much you can do with this theme! This theme reminds me a lot of New Year’s Eve. The dress code for this one is all things gold and sparkly. I have seen some people have their guests wear all-black sparkly outfits, or silver/white sparkly outfits, while the birthday girl is in gold. If you want to stand out, I definitely recommend doing this! For decorations, have everything be gold, silver, and sparkly. A gold tinsel backdrop would be perfect for the vibe and photos!

News flash, it’s my birthday.

For this last theme, it is another simple one that you can make your own. The dress code for this theme, as I have seen, is a lot of black, white, and red. Now you do not have to follow those colors; it is your birthday after all. But I’ve just noticed a trend with them. My favorite part of this trend is the decoration. For a backdrop, you just need several newspapers and write on them “News Flash, it’s my birthday”. It is very simple, I know, but it’s honestly so cute in photos! It is also cute to have extra newspapers as a prop for photos. There is so much you can add to this theme since it is pretty broad.

There are so many other birthday theme ideas out there. Honestly, just take a scroll on Pinterest; there are endless ideas. These were just some of the favorites that I wanted to do for my birthday! I hope one of these themes spoke to you and lifted some stress off of you.
