Johneisha Motley | Campus Celebrity

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TAMU chapter.

This week’s campus celebrity is Johneisha Motley from Dallas, Texas.  She is a senior biomedical science major with a double minor in communication and education in the graduating class of 2016.

In the month of October, Motley was announced as the Department of Multicultural Services’ spotlight leader.  On campus, she has been involved in several community service events.  She is currently a member of the TAMU Pre-Vet Society and Aggies 2 Aggies. She has also been involved in the Aggie Orientation Leadership Program, or AOLP, and Tour Guide Leaders.

Through these organizations, Motley is forging a path for her career while creating change on campus.  Her work with Aggies 2 Aggies strives toward peer diversity education on the Texas A&M Campus.  AOLP works toward making the transition from high school to college a less stressful and more comfortable process for all students.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M, Motley plans to pursue a veterinarian certification from LSU or Tuskegee University.  She eventually plans on becoming a small animal doctor at her own practice.

In the meantime, Motley spends her free time at Texas A&M saving lives, one head at a time.  Motley is very well known for her skill as a hair stylist here in College Station.  Her small business, Hair by Juju, has gained much recognition for her skill level and affordable pricing.

Motley says that she plans to leave Texas A&M with a legacy of accomplishment.

“I want to be an inspiration to the next generation of minorities in hopes that they could use my success as a blueprint to succeed against all odds,” Motley said. “I hope that they are able to grasp the idea that it’s not always where you’ve come from that determines your future, but it is about where you are going.  If you work hard enough and put forth enough effort, you can overcome all of the ‘no,’ ‘you won’t’ and ‘you can’t’ in life and transform them into ‘yes,’ ‘I will’ and ‘I can’.”

Howdy! My name is Janesha Moses and I am a senior in the Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications Department at Texas A&M University. After graduation, I hope to obtain a position in journalism, public relations or marketing. In 50 years, I want to say that I contributed to more than just agricultural communications and journalism. I want to be able to say that I made a difference and touch people's lives. I want to be known as someone who wanted to make life better for others and gave back to the community.
