This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TAMU chapter.

Elect Her: Campus Women Win

COLLEGE STATION, TX – Elect Her: Campus Women Win is opening their application to students on October 4th, 2021. The application will close on October 7th, 2021. This application will invite them to their formal conferences that discuss the different dynamics of running a campaign and an important conversation about the political leadership gap between women and men in government.

Elect Her is a one-day nonpartisan training conference held to help train women in government or political-based leadership positions. This is the only program in the country that helps college-aged women wanting to pursue a career in leadership. Out of the 50 host sites, Texas A&M University was selected to host the program in 2013. The importance of Elect Her is to promote the idea of women running for office and raise awareness of the gender inequalities in government.

The conference will be held both in-person and virtually, giving options for everyone. Ways to participate in is by applying or being nominated by someone else, in which nominations end on October 6th, 2021. At this conference, students will participate in exercises on how to build their network and campaigns. And they will also be able to ask questions with guest speakers and student leaders. The conference also hosts a mock campaign exercise towards the end. While the virtual option of the conference has some slight differences, Elect Her encourages everyone to apply regardless.

Join Elect Her in their inspiring conference to help build women in leadership and professional environments. Student applications open October 4th and end October 7th. Nominations end October 6th. Click here to see the full schedule of the conference, student application, and contact information for your questions!
