  1. The Empress

I adored this historical romance.  The love, the passion, the political climate – all of it was *chef’s kiss*.  And yes, this show is in German, but don’t let that stop you from watching it.  Subtitles should not stop you from watching a truly wonderful, intriguing love story.

  1. The Swimmers

Okay, this isn’t a show.  It’s a movie.  But it is phenomenal, and based on a true story.  Learn all about Yursa and Sarah Mardini’s journey in this captivating tale.

  1. Spinning Out

This show is a must watch.  I was here for Kat Baker’s journey.  I needed to know if she successfully started skating again and how her romantic life was going to unfold.

  1. Arcane

From the opening scene, I was drawn in.  This show was the show.  I binge watched it in a weekend.  And then binge watched it again.  That is how good it was.  I highly, highly recommend watching the show.  Also, the soundtrack is also spectacular.

  1. Unorthodox

I cried watching this show.  The story was beautiful and sad and heartwarming.  And the ending… satisfying.  The producers took the time to make this show as authentic as possible.

  1. Maid

This show really opened my eyes to the hardships of poverty and how hard it can be to raise a child.  This story is not glamorized.  It is hard to watch at times, but keep on watching.  The emotional ride is real.

  1. Selena: The Series

I will admit, this was my first glimpse into the life of Selena.  Growing up, the only famous Selena I knew was Selena Gomez.  But there is, arguably, a far more famous Selena – Selena Quintanilla Pérez.  And her story is one you need to watch.

  1. Half Bad: The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself

I love a good fantasy story, and this was it for me.  Oftentimes, I feel like movies and shows fall short when making a fantasy world set in present day.  But this fantasy world was perfectly woven in to the every day world.  And the plot and characters are great!

Howdy! I’m Gabriela Gomez, an avid reader who is interested in all areas of publishing and writing. And reading of course! I’m the Editor-in-Chief; I currently oversee all the publishing of articles for the Her Campus at TAMU chapter. I am overjoyed to read all the members’ articles and make any corrections that will help to elevate the article. I have been with Her Campus at TAMU since my freshman year. The first year I was a general member on the Writing and Editing committee. During that first year, I wrote a total of 23 articles and was always finding new ways to help. For my second year, I worked as the Senior Editor, publishing more than 80 articles and writing 38 articles. Now in my second semester of junior year, I have implemented a new pitch process for better organization and cleanest, I have already published more than 170 articles, and I have written 16 articles and will continue writing more! Besides working as the Editor-in-Chief, I am a dedicated student at Texas A&M studying Biomedical Sciences. I am also obtaining a minor in both English and Spanish. While not studying diligently, I work in a research lab grinding away, trying to get my name on some research papers (fingers crossed). In my free time, I read, obviously. I am also on the hunt for the best latte to ever bless this earth and love a good game of chess!
