6 Things To Do for the PlanLESS Spring Breaker

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TAMU chapter.

While many students will be making ski trips to Colorado or sunny PCB this Spring Break, many of us were left without any plans, like myself, for example. However, don’t fret! Here’s a list of fun things that’ll keep you busy all week long. If all your friends are out of town, bring out the independent woman that you are and go out and do these things on your own! Maybe take someone with you for some of them; a one-man interstate road trip might get a bit lonely. Grab your parents, sister, brother, dog – anyone who’s up for a little last minute fun.

1. ROAD TRIP!

Who doesn’t love a good ol’ American road trip? Visit nearby states and towns you’ve never been to. There’s literally so much out there to explore. Plus, you’ll never know what you find or who you meet!

2. Go camping!

For you nature lovers, grab the fam and embark on a fun camping trip! You’ve knocked out some quality family bonding time… and an excuse to make s’mores.

3. Explore your own city.

Being from Houston, there are parts of the city I discover all the time that I never knew existed. From popular restaurants to visitor attractions, there’s so much to explore. Look up popular spots in your town and take a day or two to visit them! You’ll never know what you find. (TIP: The hole-in-the-wall restaurants have the best food).

4. Hit the lake.

As Texans, there’s not much more we like than warm days on the lake. Fishing, boating, tubing, water skiing… the list never ends!

5. Try something new.

Ever wanted to learn how to play the piano? Look up some YouTube videos and teach yourself! There’s no greater feeling than accomplishing a goal you’ve set. Wanted to read a book you never had time to read at school? Now you’ve got an entire week on your hands.

6. Have a Pinterest day!

Because Pinterest bears every recipe ever created and every craft ever invented, I’ve been wanting to dedicate an entire day to actually bring some of my pins to life. Take a day to cook tasty meals or bake some sweets for your friends and family (and, of course, yourself). Make it even a little more fun by jamming some music while you’re at it. Today I saw a recipe for “Rolo Chip Pizookies with Homemade Hot Fudge.” If I had an extra two hours on my hands that’s exactly what I’d be doing. Or make some cute wall art for your bedroom back at school. (Personally, my walls could use a little more décor). The site literally provides a lifetime’s worth of crafty things to do.
