With October in full swing, students at Texas A&M University may find themselves stretched thin trying to find time to study for midterms while simultaneously attempting to keep up with school events and their social lives. When preparing for next semester added in the mix of things, trying to figure out what classes to register for may feel like a breaking point for some.

In order to graduate, students at Texas A&M are required to take classes that meet core curriculum requirements set by the university (a comprehensive list of these classes can be found at core.tamu.edu). While some students may be frustrated that they have to take classes unrelated to their major, these requirements can be a great opportunity to learn more about diversity, difference, equity, and inclusion.

Whether it looks like meeting Aggies with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds or joining a student organization with like-minded individuals, diversity, difference, equity, and inclusion are factors that affect everyone on a daily basis. These topics can not only help students navigate their personal lives, but they can also help them develop qualities that future employers are looking for.

So, if you’re trying to figure out what core classes to take next semester and find yourself stuck, here are five core classes at Texas A&M that you should take to learn more about diversity, difference, equity, and inclusion.
